I want to create again. I did a pour last week. They smell wonderful curing in my office.

I've already used some.. A slice of foamy heaven.

That sounds like such a satisfying hobby! What kind of soap did you make?

I know there are different processes and that you can be creative with ingredients!

It's something I have thought about learning for years...and now that I have moved so far away from home, don't speak the language where I am, I need to learn to do some new things. I don't even know where to start!

Would you be willing to share how you began?

I imagine I could find the ingredients here, if I can figure out where to go and the German translation!

I did the hot process method. You can cook the soap in a crock pot. I can made a few batches. I used a basic recipe that I like. Then I added different ingredients from the kitchen. So I was trying to stay natural. I scented the soaps with essential oils. I

So, I made pumpkin & cinnamon, lavender & lemon, oatmeal milk & honey. Coco butter & Shea. I was thinking of making some this morning. Since I'm up so early.

I used to make prettygood $$ when I sold them.

I taught myself. I read books. And YouTube is a wealth of info.

Google. And experiment. I started out with melt & pour. I learned with trial and error. Its like cooking. Decide what you want your soap to do.. Email me anytime. I'll share what I know. We can learn together.

We'll have to start a soaping thread. Maybe donate some to the site. Wash that man right out ta my life soap! Putting on my bitch boots baby! soap, how about, Reunited.big enough for 2. As I type this out I'm liking the idea.

I love homemade soap. I wish I could make some. I found an awesome mint & (something) soap a few years ago and can't find it since. I wish I could make it. I looked online and saw so many different methods it was pretty intimidating.

As a beekeeper we have looked for good uses for our leftover wax.

I make lotion bars that are to die for. They have 5 indgredients, and natural oils for the scent. That's the funnest part, figuring out what you them to smell like. In fact I have to remelt a about 3 dozen of them, because the mix was wrong on my lavender ones, smell too much like rosemary, and my orange cedarwood ones were a hit. I have sold out, just from word of mouth among, family, friends and work mates.

I have pondered on trying the soaps. I guess that will be my next adventure. You make it sound AWESOME!!!!

Surely we could make some glitter soap!

Tushnurse...you are a beekeeper? That is awesome! I buy bars of beeswax online, because we have a very old house in the US that has a pantry with old wooden cupboards...If I don't wax them now and then, the drawers won't open!

I'm a soap maker too :) I mainly do cold process and glycerin (aka melt and pour). I love it, just shipped 52 lbs of bath salts, black raspberry vanilla, snowfall, hot chocolate and goatsmilk soaps to my sister for 3 craft shows she's doing for me. I stayed up last night making peppermint soap gift bags for a custom order. It's so relaxing to mix and play with scents, colors and swirls. I get into my zone and just feel so peaceful!

My daughter suggested "truth serum soap".

I keep telling myself I want to make soap from scratch (i.e., fats and lye) like my grandmother used to, but somehow I never get around to it. Your post is spurring me on, though. I have some purple food dye, dried lavender blossoms and essential oil of lavender that would make a wicked bar.

This weekend I am making lavender bath bombs for a couple of my friends who (unlike me) love to tub soak. Christmas is coming!

I usually buy my supplies through bramble berry, it's a great site and their support staff can not be beaten! I'd love to do a SI soap fundraiser, maybe we could come up with a couple of ideas and figure something out! We'd have to cover our costs but anything over shipping and materials could be donated to SI
