hi all. question please.
my daughter is a RN - has been out of school 1 year.
I used to be a biomed at a local hospital- worked there for 11 years, I was a respected and well liked part of the team.
the question is, it is appropriate for me to let nursing administration know that she is my daughter and would they give her a little extra consideration for a job?
side notes:
- DD has been working since she graduated. I did not contact them last time, I figured DD needed to do this on her own. she left her first job in order to move out of state with her H when he lost his job. and her Temp job will run out in the next couple of weeks.
- I do know the administration on a first name basis. we didn't run around together, but I would consider us friends when we worked together.
so, do I contact the hospital or not?

Personally, I will do everything I can to see my kids succeed. If it is through networking and contacts then so be it. That's the way the real world works. I'd definitely help her out.

I see no reason why you can't email your contacts in the administration with your daughter's resume. She's a qualified candidate, after all.
I wouldn't actually ask for extra consideration. Simply noting your relationship with her will be enough of a prompt.
It nagged him, in particular, that none of the girls he’d known so far had given him a sense of unalloyed triumph.

I would for my daughter and I know my mom has for me! She was a big reason I got my first job, then I busted my butt to prove myself on my own merits!

If you don't give them the heads up about your DD, somebody else will be giving the heads up about their DD/relative/friend whomever, and THAT person will get the job.
I'm sure your DD is well qualified. But I still very much believe that in the majority of hiring, "who you know" carries far more weight than "what you know." It is a bonus if you know what you need to, AND know the right people too.

It's called "networking."
