My all time favorite is Oahu. We went for a week and it was beyond amazing. Everything about the island is beautiful. I would live there if I could.

I'm a Maui girl, myself. Ka'anapali specifically.

For a laid back, beach vacation that can also be active, I'd say Costa Rica. I love it there. They have beaches, rainforest, hiking, volcanos, The rainforest is really special, especially at night when it comes alive.

Ireland was amazing. Absolutely breathtaking and the people were incredible.

The best way to pick an ideal vacation destination is to think about what you're in the mood to do. A trip to Paris is going to be very different from a trip to Fiji.

There is always a rainbow after every storm.

Paris or Canada

I've been to the first (absolutely awesome!) and I live in the second.

Where in Canada? We are the second largest country in the world (after Russia).

This is MY favourite vacation destination:

Today it was 27 degrees Celsius, feeling like 38C. That's a helluva lot hotter than the winter freezing rain/ice storm here!

Ok I've been to the French Polynesian islands and although pretty it is exceedingly expensive and the level of services and things to do are not as great as you might think. There is FAR more to do in Hawaii and Cancun/Cozumel than there.

I will never go back there and continue to enjoy where I think the best combo of beauty, activities, service and cost: Kauai

Since this is your first time in another country, I'd advise you to go to an English speaking country:England, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand.

The second time around venture out to a non-English speaking country.

My favorite??? Germany and Austria. I do not need an excuse to go to either country. I love it there!!!!

To the poster who would love to visit Bali: I am going there sometime before May 2014. It is a free gift, all expenses paid. I do not know if I will be staying in one of those huts you mentioned, but I will take whatever it is they will give me. They drew my name from a pool and the prize was a trip to Bali/ Singapore for one week. All expenses paid including airfare. I do not get lucky often, but this one time I won a dream vacation....

And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”
