I just crawled up the driveway on my hands and knees.....too icy to walk.

It was OK a couple of hours ago on my way downtown (a small town downtown ), but it's getting colder and the ice is now a skating rink.

Both sons in Toronto & Markham still don't have power where they live. Oldest son and his fiancée drove (I don't know how after watching the newscasts) to our condo in TO where there is electricity and stayed overnight. Probably tonight, too!

...after all, with all their electronic gadgets, they needed to plug in and recharge!

...and I don't think we are going to meet with family on Christmas Day....

It's a wait and see situation.

saturday was 71 and cloudy. horrid torrential rain sat night, with tornado warnings! neighbor lost a huge tree, bounced off the corner of their roof, tore down gutters n broke 2 windows. friend's big, heavy gazebo (extra large one with fixed roof) uprooted and against neighbor's fence. i got off lightly, just had to pick up overturned christmas deco, wrought iron table n chairs, n retrieve cushions n market umbrella from neighbor's yard. crazy! hope everyone is safe!

We got the freezing rain and ice last Friay and it's still here. Power went off Friday night and didn't get it back until 6pm yesterday. Ugh. Total electric home and no heat source. Ended up taking my Mom to my sister's house but I toughed it out here, keeping the fur babies warm with body heat. Ever been rolled up in blankets with three tiny Chihuahuas and one HUGE Golden Retriever -- and a kitten? It's a new experience.

By the way, the kitten belongs to the Golden Retriever, it's HIS baby kitten and he kept her warm. He has his own pet - a baby feral kitten. She's now about 4 months old and he's been her best buddy since she was first weaned.

I've visiting my parents in New Brunswick (in Atlantic Canada) and there are still thousands without power here. It snowed or freezing rained, quite literally, from Friday night (the 20th) through Christmas Eve with a short reprieve Christmas day, only to get another dumping of 10 cm of snow on Boxing Day. To make matters worse, we are expecting another 20-30 cm of snow tomorrow night, with the potential for more freezing rain.

We're lucky, here. My parents live in an area that is on the same power grid as a nearby hydro-electric dam. Therefore, if this grid loses power, it is top priority to get back up.
