More phone screens. One local company is doing an in person interview on Tuesday. Friend of mine helped me pick out components for a two piece business suit today. Just need a couple alterations (I won't wear the sport jacket on Tuesday.. pants are very close to perfect already.)

Amazing how good well fitting clothes look.

New phone screen for Monday.

As a self-thread-jack on the clothes thing, I've realized that most of my street clothes are a little too big now.. I'm at the lowest weight I've been in 10 years. Getting fitted for a suit really opened my eyes to how much you can do to makes things fit properly.

So this week I have (in 10 minutes) phone screen, (tomorrow morning) in person interview which I consider to be practice, and (Thursday morning) Skype interview.

Good thing these aren't life and death because I have a bit of a cold and it's pushing pretty hard on my nervousness. Hopefully I can fit in some cardio later today.. usually helps with that.

Didn't think my cold was going to be an issue, but I felt really cognitively sloppy during the phone screen. Not terribly nervous, but very sloppy, struggled with some of the answers. I'm going to attempt to move my in person interview on Tuesday morning to Friday morning to give me more time to recover.

And now both my interviews are on Friday. So I'll be taking that as a vacation day. Efficient.

I feel nervous about the interviews even though I don't really care about whether I get those particular positions. I find that amusing.

I got a copy of the feeling good handbook yesterday.

Both interviews went well. I don't think I want to work for the first company--multi-level marketing, snake-oilish product.

Second company is in another location and they seem really cool, but my daughter doesn't want to move away from her mom so much right now.

Anyhow, I'm not taking a position unless I feel sure about it.

I was really scared of doing them, but they turned out OK. Second one was 2 hours and 40 minutes on the phone and was very very detailed, but I think that's a good sign that the company is trying to screen people carefully.

Nothing incredibly notable.. some routine contact with recruiters. No screens or interviews since last Friday.

I find that I'm able to think about career things and look at jobs and apply for stuff without getting scared now.

Although I am still frustrated with myself for not being able to enjoy doing projects in my spare time like I used to a long time ago.

I'm finding out an answer today from the 'practice' interview I did a couple weeks back, in the state I'm looking at moving to. I got a copy of their benefits handbook. Pretty mediocre compared to where I work. I'm going to need to take this into account when I negotiate salaries, I think.

Unlikely I'll say yes to this as I need my daughter's buy-in to move, and I also need to visit the place before I move, and that won't happen until late this month at the earliest.

Also, I really don't like their benefits.

Heard back from the recruiter. They liked me / skills were good, but they have a local better fit. They're interested in talking to me in the future. This is a good outcome for me.

Heard back from another recruiter (this one local) on a couple companies that might have been a good fit--they passed on me due to low client side experience, but this is something I'm aware I'm weak in now, and doesn't mean I can't get a job. I'm actually explicitly focusing on strengthening this up, so it's good feedback that I'm doing the right thing. :)

Not much new to report. I dialed down the intensity a bit to pull myself together (fix my sleep again, etc). I have a lot of time to get this all set up.. it's definitely not a crisis.

It sure has opened my eyes to how much I want to change my life, and how much I could change my life, though!
