Knight and I are on our way to a weekend in the Big Easy for Jazzfest. We are even planning to meetup with another SI member.
Knight has been in a bit of a funk lately and I so want him to enjoy himself. Jazzfest has always been his thing. I know there are many members on SI who need prayers and mojo for more significant things, but if you have any extra prayers and mojo....
It would be so great if he could relax and just take a few breaths without this burden crushing him. If he could smile on the inside....

I hope you guys have a fantastic time. Never been there, but I imagine it's hard to have a bad time at a music festival in the Big Easy.

Oh yeah, sending good vibes while i listen to WWOZ leading up to live broadcast from the jazz tent! Love NOLA. Love Jazz Fest. Great lineup this year. Rock the cubes!
I went to 2011 Jazz Fest all by myself when WH & I were separated post-DD. Worked magic. Going with WH this year was the plan, but my shoulder surgery interrupted so I am jealous from the Left Coast.

WH and I will be at jazz Fest this weekend too. We've had it planned for months (dday was 2 weeks ago) and decided to still go on the trip despite everything going on. Hopefully it'll take our minds off of things, at least for the weekend. :) hope you have fun!

We really have had a great weekend!
We got into Nawlins around 2am checked into our hotel then walked down to Cafe Du Monde to be treated to beignets by a brand new SI friend. Super nice and interesting dude, we enjoyed the meetup.
Then back to the hotel to sleep fast before Jazzfest.
More later, gotta run.

Ok, I'm back.
Sorry Moo, we had to leave a day early because Knight has to go in to work tomorrow for some dumb training.
so we won't see our SI bud today.
So Friday we decided to go eat lunch at Willie Mae's Scotch House, but the line was ridiculous and "interesting dude" (I'm just not sure if he wants his whereabouts posted, or to be known as consorting with the Knights
) had recommended Dooky Chase's, which is 1 block away, so we went there instead. We enjoyed an awesome meal, ran into "interesting dude" there and met his family, then "someone" anonymously paid for our wonderful meal! Gotta love southern hospitality!!!!
or maybe avacado heads....there's no tellin'...
We went on to Jazzfest and enjoyed the entire day. Santana was amazing! We were both happy and relaxed. Then we ran into a slight wrinkle.
We usually take a shuttle bus to and from Jazzfest but Friday we decided to try going by taxi. We walked out to the taxi line and it was around the block with no taxis coming so we decided to walk for a while then call for a pick up when we got away from the traffic congestion. We enjoyed walking through this really nice garden district type neighborhood with the pretty shotgun houses and antebellum homes. Knight kept saying let's call the cab now and I kept saying let's walk a bit further, it's such a pretty area.
So....just like New Orleans the next block we found ourselves in a not so nice neighborhood. We ended up in front of a meat market that was for some reason open at 8 PM. With a bunch of guys hanging out in front walking up to cars that pulled up to the curb and leaning in the window then waking into the store and back out. One guy started yelling at all these scantily clad women on the block by name and telling them, "bring me your money!" Knight was encouraging me to walk on down to another location and I kept saying, "no. I've already given the taxi this location to pick us up." Then 4 guys carried a refrigerator sized box out of the store and loaded it in the back of a pickup.
*cough* body dump? Knight was freaking out but I was perfecly clueless to all happenings around us.
A taxi kind of squealed up in front of us, rolled down his window, and said, "y'all get in the car!" I said, "that's not the company we called." But Knight already had my arm and was *gently* helping me into the car (kind of like you see on cops, where they duck your head for you to make sure you don't bump it)
Taxi driver says, "You need to be careful walking around New Orleans at night, it's real easy to end up in a bad spot."
I said, "Were we in a bad spot?"
Driver, "Yeah, pretty much."
Knight (looking like
), "it was a toss up between the guys on the corner killing her or me."
Thankfully, we made it back to the hotel safe and sound and Knight didn't stay mad long.
I'll be back for the final installment in a bit.

Oh my!
I have heard New Orleans can be pretty dicy. Glad you guys are safe. And also, glad you had a good time!

Wow! Sounds like something out of Sons of Anarchy (which I'm currently watching on Netflix and is blowing my little English mind)
Glad you're both safe and enjoyed the kazz fest.
