Some very dear friends of mine are in the process of an international adoption. She has asked me to help her brainstorm ideas for raising the $25,000+ they need for travel fees and other adoption associated expenses. Any ideas?

I'm not sure it would net a lot of money but a yard sale? If you could get friends or neighbors to donate stuff even better.

I know someone who's been raising money for a service dog through gofundme.com. He's had links on FB for it and has raised $10K from friends & family. It's putting your business out there, but it can be successful.

One of my friends sells 31 bags, a brand that does sale parties (think Mary Kay or Tupperware), and she will do parties where all the proceeds go to an adoption or something like that.

I've seen adoption fundraisers do can/bottle drives, sell things (shirts, hats, jewelry) from or representing the country they are adopting from (bracelets with little charms of African countries, a tshirt with the shape of Africa embroidered on the bottom). I've seen bake sales, car washed, etc.
I follow a couple of pages on Facebook created by couples adopting internationally, and support their efforts. I also hope to adopt internationally one day.
Oh, and gofundme.com is a definite must!

Do they belong to a church? It might be a good thing to ask the people at your church to help out with???

They do belong. It's our music minister and his wife. Lol. And the church family knows, it's just hard to get people to remember without having some reminder. Plus, it's always nice to reach an even larger percentage of the population. They have an adoption blog, so there isn't an issue with putting their business out there. I'm not sure though if the adoption agency they are using will allow them to do something like gofundme. I'll bring that up when we meet tomorrow. Part of the issue here is time. Paperwork was started less than a month ago and they are expecting to travel in October. So, basically we have to raise almost $15,000 a month for this to happen. Trying to find things that will raise the most money in the shortest time.
