WR, I'm glad you sound more positive today. Hope it stays that way!
COVID-wise, some areas around here have a positive test rate a tiny bit higher, but, thankfully, still in the 1% + or - range. Still personally distancing, mask wearing and constantly using sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer when in public areas (I'm out very infrequently).
I did meet a dear friend in a large public park in town last week. We both wore masks and only removed them when sitting at opposite sides, opposite ends of an 8-foot picnic table. First chance to see her in person in many months! No one else came near us as they walked, biked or played in the park, but waved, nodded or spoke to acknowledge us. Such a nice visit! Also distance visited in the yard of a neighbor who is still recovering from a surgical procedure as I checked on her.
I have appointments for a dental checkup and a consultation for a possible routine procedure coming up. I asked many questions and did research before agreeing to go and will ask many more at the consult.
Dragn, you do more work that 10 people! I'm sorry you are hurting, but glad you let wh know you weren't putting up with him!
Lionne, I hope you get a new way to keep your headaches in check. I used to have horrible migraines that could last for days, vomiting and the whole 9 yards (they went away when xpos did!), so I know a bit of what you speak. If I had my eyes dilated on a bright, sunny day or was exposed to a bright flash of light, it could put me into one, so the dilation and exam alone could do it.
Stay safe and healthy everyone!

I haven't been listening to the news and the daily covid numbers here. We were doing well with cases under 100 daily but last I heard it had gone up over that a few days in a row.
Kinda scary.
I bought masks for the kids for school. The twins aren't required to wear them but I got really cool patterns and they love them. Bought four at a store that fit the older kids but not the twins. Bought theirs locally from a woman sewing them. She is amazing. She's sewing masks for the school in case theres kids who dont have them. I'm going to go buy more from her so the kids have multiple ones.
Stressed about the school thing as are many parents. The guidelines arent completely clear, still dont know about buses or classes yet and DD is stressing because she doesnt know which class shes in. The first day is going to be stressful.

Lionne... I really hate to hear about your headaches. Many years ago I had really bad migraines. It was when my three boys were toddlers and older.
I was really lucky that mine went away with menopause. Mostly.
I hope you can find something that works. 🙏🙏🙏

Thanks. Most of my life I've had a headache of one kind or another, always some pain, I learned to live with it. It was only last February, when i started an injectable, that I realized I DIDN'T HAVE PAIN! It was miraculous, unbelievable really. Oh, a few would break through around the time my next shot was due but they'd go away with one treatment of rescue medication.
I'm hoping they'll be able to switch me to a different injectable or maybe increase this one. They are SO new, there isn't much data, and they were approved by the FDA pretty quickly because they aren't technically medicine but a monoclonal antibody whatever that means.
But a headache isn't life threatening so I'm very lucky, really.

Perhaps not but it CAN be debilitating. Ypu dont just "have to live with it" because it's not going to kill you. Sending mojo that they can tweak your injection.

Well all it did was make him more angry. I really wanted to remove the ladder. None of our step ladders were tall enough so we had to use the extended one. Even without being extended it was to tall, I think it can easily reach a two story house if not higher and its heavy. Wh can barely carry it. That's the only reason I didn't remove it and leave him stuck up there.

Covid19 is so strong and so sneaky. We were doing well, down to just under 300 cases a day for two days and everyone was watching and happy about that. Then today, the positive numbers more than doubled. These highs and lows are so difficult to deal with. In the obits today, I know two people, both under 50, who have passed from it. They were not close friends, just people I know, but not very well. They both left young families. Heartbreaking. My young niece and nephew started school this week. It's one-half in person, one-half virtual. Schools are starting then ugly Covid strikes and they get shut down.
The USA/Canadian border was scheduled to open 4 days ago but has been put off again until Sept. 21st. I'm thinking it won't open then either.
I was half way planning to drive to Houston and Galveston to visit family and friends and NOW two hurricanes are bearing down on that area, so that's out. I heard someone from CDC say it might be two years before things improve.

It just takes one person not wearing a mask, one person not following the rules to cause this to explode again. And sadly theres many more than just one not doing what they need to do to keep this under wraps.
I can see this going on so long that the virus mutates and becomes more deadly...

Dragn, so true. It was discouraging to hear yesterday about someone being infected for a second time. I think that's the first time we've heard that. So discouraging to think someone can battle it, survive -- then get it again.
About two miles from me is a Pee-Wee baseball venue. Every Friday - Sunday those little kids are playing baseball so of course there are hundreds of parents out there too. I've named it the "Covid nest" as there is NO room for social distancing. The parking lot holds 300 cars as it's a tournament venue so several teams playing at once. The parking lot is always full and over flowing. And YES there are reports of positive cases from there but they do NOT shut down. They only quarantine the team that has infections for a couple of weeks. It seems they are practicing the 'herd mentality.' The woman who owns it, her brother is the town doctor and her dad, who recently passed, was the town pharmacist.
What ARE those parents thinking??

Ya its mind boggling. If adults want to risk their own life that's one thing but to put kids at risk for a game...I just dont understand. Of people want things back to as near as they are before why not totally comply and just cope. It will end the length of this.

Doing fine here so far. Everyone masking up indoors pretty much everywhere.
I meet a friend for a patio lunch every couple of weeks. He's a 30-year-old with a history of almost dying from Lyme disease when he was a teen and his immune system is pretty much shot to hell.
He says the Covid is like Lyme's evil twin, and we joke (because we are a bit ghoulish like that) that we'll know right away if he gets it because he'll be in ICU the next day.
He's the only one in my five-person bubble that I visit with consistently, and he sees virtually nobody, so we're pretty safe to hang together.
In other news, my friend's step-grandson made the headlines for being the first moron in town to get a big fat fine for hosting a big party in his jam-packed apartment, then hosting another one the very next night right after getting busted for the first one.
Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He says he's going to go to court and fight the ticket because he thinks it's dumb. And now he's homeless because he got evicted right away. The stupid is thick with this one...
We are of course trending upward and September is going to be so much fun.

Dragn, I would have loved to see you walk away with wh on the roof, too. Laughed out loud when I read what WR wrote!
Jeaniegirl, that venue seems like the perfect spot to start a local version of the pandemic. Seems they are looking to give the family lots of business.
Our own HFFSC has been told she has had COVID twice, but wasn't tested one of the times according to her post on it; only presumed because she was helping a relative who tested positive and HF had the virus symptoms after. It was when they didn't have enough tests and was increasing rapidly, if I remember. The person on the news was said to have *tested* positive twice. I bet there are quite a few others like HF. We will probably never know just how many actually have had it.

Healthy here - though everyone in the Southwest is having breathing issues because there are so many fires and so much smoke. It rolls in every evening and the sunsets are spectacular. We have had a couple of days where the smoke never cleared and it was dreary-looking or orange all day.
We are in week three of virtual school and expect to hear from the governor anytime this week about if we will be allowed to open after Labor Day. The two largest districts in the state have voted to stay 100% virtual through Christmas and the chatter is that will influence the governor’s decision, but who knows.
Statewide, daily cases are down here. I don’t expect that to last though because people are screaming for us to open up with no distancing or mask requirements or capacity restrictions. My county is leading this charge.
Mostly, I’m just tired. I’m tired of people being mean to each other. I’m tired of hearing people tell me that I’m too lazy to go back to work and feel like I’m entitled to a paycheck anyway. I’m tired of my kids fighting with each other. So. I go to bed earlier. I prioritize my yoga. I try to find something I can do alone each day.

Health check..... How is everyone doing today?
Sorry I have been negligent with checking in every week or so to keep this going. My life is pretty much been shit for a while, but nothing compared to what so many people in this country and around the world are experiencing right now.
It seems as though the closer my husband gets to having his new wheelchair, getting a nerve block for his pain, and being off of narcotics, the more incapacitated he acts. Is it possible to fear feeling better?
How is everyone doing with the fires out west? My friend near Seattle sends me pictures of the sky and I can’t even believe it.
Please check in so will know how you’re doing!

My state's new positive daily cases are back up to over 1200 daily. People are IGNORING masks and doing as they damn well please. This weekend there is even a carnival in my small town park and I hear it's packed! And of course the covid baseball field is packed again this weekend too. This area is following the suggestion of herd immunity, which is stupid, stupid, stupid! Suicide - and death to others.
I just do. Not. Understand. why common sense isn't being used.

Jeanniegirl, I can second what you said about the lack of common sense. My state had a small "surge", but it is still not enough to be a big concern. Seems to most be from colleges, including parties and gatherings on and off some campuses; other places where people gathered in defiance of orders; and travel (some of it because of students coming to campuses). A few colleges went to online learning because of their numbers but keep students on campus to stem spread outside.
I had a COVID test recently prior to a scheduled procedure. All good and procedure done. Was told at the facility that I should monitor for symptoms for the following two weeks. I'm mostly staying home and definitely observing distancing, wear a mask, washing hands and sanitizing. Safe practices when I do go places.

We switched from 100% virtual school to hybrid for kinder-5th grade students two weeks ago. My schedule is chaotic, but we are making it work. Two of my kids are on campus full-days 2 days/week and home the other 3. My oldest is home 5 days a week. I am teaching from home M-Th 8-11:30, on-campus 11:45-3:15 M-Th and 100% virtual on Friday. Thankfully, I live two blocks from the school, so this isn’t as crazy as it sounds. Our school is erring on the side of caution on campus. Masks for everyone all day. Our biggest class has 11 kids - distanced at 6+ feet. All kids/teachers stay with their classroom cohort (they’re even separated during recesses). All “high-touch” surfaces are sanitized frequently throughout the day and the playground equipment is sprayed after every class. Any “close contact” - defined as less than 6’ for more than 3 minutes - is recorded for contract tracing purposes. Staff are screened as they come on campus. Students who ride the bus are screened before they’re allowed on the bus. Anything that presents as possible COVID sends a student home. Oh, and, 5% of our staff is tested weekly (by mandate) regardless of symptoms. I didn’t think it was possible to be more exhausted than I was when we were 100% virtual, but I was wrong.
Outside of teaching, I’m feeling well. I saw a massage therapist last Sunday and have had three consecutive days of zero shoulder pain. That hasn’t happened in 12 years! I’m so glad I finally found an LMT who will do the kind of touch-point massage I need! And, I found a time-release patch with a combo of herbs and vitamins that has done amazing things for my anxiety. Definitely happy about that!

Overall not to bad. Still tired. Realized that I've gained alot of weight, probably the heaviest I've ever been. Instantly felt very depressed. Need to work on dropping this weight.
My state's new positive daily cases are back up to over 1200 daily
The daily counts were down around 80 here for the longest time. Then as school started the numbers jumped. 200, 300, over 400. Most due to private parties or get togethers. So the Premier reduced the number of people that can get together: 10 max inside, 25 max outside. Anyone not following the rules is fined.
The day this came into effect a car show happened with over 1000 people, most without masks or social distancing. Most of those testing positive and having these get togethers are between 20-40.
This does put a damper on BIL wedding. If I count out the minimum number of people I think will be there its 15. I've told wh that if we could be fined $750 each then we are not going.
With the kids in school all week it gives me time to get things I want to do. Clean out the chicken coup, raise the top of the run so I can walk in without having to be bent over, finish bale feeder for horses. Will hopefully be a productive week.
