I know that a lot of you are dealing with snow. I just want to tell the world that I am a Weather Wuss. It's 8:20 in the morning and it is 55 Degrees outside and it's too COLD to hang the outside lights!!! I'm safe because it is supposed to hit 80 today so I will put them up in a little while.

So for all of you dealing with snow GOOD LUCK and I'm SORRY.

Greeneyesbluezy posted 12/12/2017 11:24 AM

If it hits 55 in December I put on a bikini and hang those damn lights!!

Otherwise hubs can do it

Myname posted 12/12/2017 11:36 AM

I'm with you Candyman. I hate the cold. I'm a landscaper so I have to be work in all kinds of weather. I prefer 85-95 degrees.

tushnurse posted 12/12/2017 12:31 PM

I am too, Unfortunately for me, I get a full dose of all 4 seasons. This morning it was 27 when I left the house. Along with winds out of the WNW at 20+mph.
I loved when I lived in Dallas, we put up our outside lights in shorts and flip flops, and that's the way it should be.

TimelessLoss posted 12/12/2017 14:02 PM

I don't mind putting them up when it's 20's taking them down when it is 20. Neighbor from well down the street was walking their dog a coupla days ago and said, "You know your going to have to take all those down don't you?"...

Candyman66 posted 12/12/2017 14:48 PM

TimelessLoss; Leave them up, just unplug them !!! Take them down on the 4th of july. I mean who cares!!!

Kalleigh posted 12/12/2017 15:54 PM

cold its 16 degrees here right now. you get used to it. we would be wearing shorts and tshirts if it was 55 just saying

Chrysalis123 posted 12/12/2017 20:21 PM

I lived at a high altitude in Colorado for 25 years. Had been known to shovel my deck in my pajamas and flip flops.

Now I live near the Everglades and adore the high humidity and heat. I know..weird.

Well, today I walked my dog at 6AM, and it was 46. It was so cold. And I know cold.

Strange how one's body adapts, but I want the heat and humidity back.

Ummmmm. Its currently -20 outside right now with a windchill of -25.

Today's high is expected to get up to -9. Yay. Lmao

wifehad5 posted 12/13/2017 06:56 AM

It's been 16 here this week. I was shoveling snow on Monday night in pajama pants and shoes with no socks, a light jacket, and no gloves. I was outside for about 30 minutes, so I guess I'm getting used to it already

Candyman66 posted 12/13/2017 07:03 AM

Well about 9;30 it got up to 65 so I put the lights up. Had to get it done before it got too hot. 80 is NOT normal for december even here in beautiful San Diego, Climate change is a bitch! Except for the wildfires we now have to deal with this IS living in a vacation paradise!!! So yes I'm spoiled!!!

DragnHeart; How the H does one function at -20 or -25??? Went to see my oldest daughter a couple of years ago in Kansas and the temp was 0. When we bought beer we just left it outside for a while to chill because no room in the fridge. At the temps you talk about we only could leave the beer out for about what 15 min??? H' we could only leave ME out for less than that!!!

After Christmas I'm going to clean my boat up and go sailing some more ! In January!! Eat your heart out northerners!!! JUST GOTTA LOVE IT!!

I'm talking celceius not farenheit. So -20 is around -1 F? The windchill was changed to -28. The walk to the bus was brutal even all wrapped up. Damn wind!

Minnesota posted 12/13/2017 10:31 AM

Here in Minnesota, I'm with Greeneyes- except for the bikini part. (Try to get the image of Minnesota in a bikini out of your head....)

I put up my lights when it was in the 40's. Sweatshirt, jeans and shoes, but 10 degrees more and it could have been a t-shirt.

Now it's 25ish today in the Twin Cities. I shoveled this am in a sweatshirt - no coat.

Solidarity with the upper midwesterners.

TrustNoOne posted 12/13/2017 13:52 PM

There is simply no place as fantastic as San Diego. America's Finest City is also paradise.

*runs outside to hang the No Vacancy sign*

By all means, come visit - but we're full at the Inn.

Candyman66 posted 12/13/2017 20:58 PM

The news just said the last time it snowed here was 2008 BUT you had to get to 1500 ft to get any. The LAST TIME IT HAD MEASURABLE SNOW IN VARIOUS NEIGHBORHOODS was 1967, the year I graduated school, I graduated in June and the snow was Dec 13 1967. So it has been awhile.

Chrysalis123 posted 12/13/2017 21:08 PM

I am happy to report that snow has never officially been reported in my city near the Everglades.....ever!!

Google is my friend.

Candyman66 posted 12/14/2017 00:21 AM

Chrysalis123 Yes but I've lived in Fla, Homestead AFB 20 miles south of Miami. You SWEAT instead. We don't really have that much humidity. Like I tell people, "You have to PAY me to sweat!!!

DragnHeart posted 12/14/2017 06:36 AM

My morning today will be spent snow blowing the driveway and a path to the back. Yay...NOT! Its cold.

I also have found that one strip of the driveway gets very bad from the blowing snow so since snow fence is on sale I'm picking up a roll for the one spot. Now getting the poles into the ground will be a challenge unless I just put it up against the field fence.

I hate winter!!!

Candyman66 posted 12/14/2017 08:08 AM

DragnHeart; my wife says I'm FULL of hot air. Maybe I could come up there and just talk to the snow and it would just melt???

Also if you hate snow have you ever considered to move south??

PricklePatch posted 12/14/2017 08:30 AM

I live in the mid Atlantic. I am from so cal. I love the seasons love winter. But I participate from inside, unless a pup gets stuck in our snow poddy then I dash in and out.
