The cool thing about MMOs is I still keep in touch with some of the people I met online long ago, we're talking about 10-15 years now.

Although some modern ones seem to be more single player with multiplayer bits. I understand the Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO has become more like that over the years.

Single player is nice...but it's still great to do something with friends

hopefullife posted 2/24/2020 11:23 AM

I would agree that's a great advantage. Common interest also forms a unique bond.

Brings me to when I reconnected with old (online and offline) friends from more than a decade ago. Great to talk to them again, but the tough part?? The dreadful questions come. Are you married? How's family life? Do you have kids? Ugh..

AbandonedGuy posted 2/24/2020 11:24 AM

My DDay weight loss was 30 lb. I think I ate two apples and maybe 5 oz of chicken that entire first week. Maybe TMI, but I didn't realize one couls go several days without a BM. I picked up a pack a day cigarette habit (whereas I rarely smoked) which sustained me. Plus all that manic freak out energy kept me chugging along. Survival Mode is pretty intense, too bad we have to undergo a trauma to flip that switch on. I can think of a dozen different uses for it outside of "your whole world is collapsing, you're about to have nothing, and you're nobody, sink or swim time, buckaroo."

So far, lose an additional 20 lb. I havent weighed this weight in many many years. The trick is to buy tight clothes and sign up foe things that make you keep exercising, like a marathon.

A tough part is people dying. A few years ago one of my old star wars galaxies buddies passed away unexpectedly, she was only about ten years older than me. It's a bit surreal.

As for exercise/weight loss, I figured: I feel weak physically and emotionally, I want to feel strong again. I think improving one will help improve the other with time.

I lost 22 lbs since Dday. I didn't starve myself and I'd still eat somehow, but the appetite loss was something I've never experienced before. Heck, I eat a lot even when sick lol.

I track the food I eat so I know if I'm being healthy even with the appetite loss. I rarely exercise now (I walk a lot, if that counts). I was supposed to ran my first marathon but got cancelled. Getting back to running before I join one to condition my body. Gotta work on my cardio.

Someone from work died of a heart attack, and he was just in his 30s. Life IS short :( but I honestly would be thankful if God decides it's my time to go now, escaping pain seems peaceful. But while alive, need to turn this shit around.

It does, from what I hear. WW is a walker and likes to take walks. I was never big on aimlessly walking around though. But I have some regrets not going on walks with her more

Right before she left we went to a informational thing about hiking and local trails. I actually was looking forward to doing that with her.

While malnourished and chainsmoking, I'd jog a few miles a day. Around the block, at the park. Endorphins helped to get my mind right. Knowing that the vile woman bonded with her AP over secret 5Ks was fuel for my fire. The second best motivator is spite. Now I'm just addicted to the progress.

hopefullife posted 2/24/2020 19:19 PM

Don't be malnourished! Lose weight, but be healthy. Well at least that's what I'm trying to do.

I survived on water and coffee (thank God he didn't take this from me. We bonded a lot over coffee) when food intake just wasn't working. I haven't drank water this much before. Another perk. I can eat better now than months ago and can even overeat, but I still watch what I take. But ohh, just got introduced to keto by a friend and heavy cream in coffee is <3 I can imagine I'd die with clogged arteries happy with this fix.

Walking around feels relaxing. You can always sit when tired. I'm glad I'm inclined to walking as it did come in handy during my solo trip. Saved tons from taxi.

ShatteredSakura posted 2/24/2020 20:44 PM

The keto craze is something of a trigger because the AP would always talk to WW about his keto diet and in turn she'd always talk to me about it. I associate it with him bleh.

Too often I'd get hit with a question out of the blue about something random, and it would lead back to them talking about that topic.

I grew up in a rural area that didn't have sidewalks, so walking to your destination usually was impractical.

I'm not a big coffee drinker, or at least I don't go out of my way for it. A small amount actually would make WW very jittery. She was a tea drinker. Although I'm not much of a tea drinker either lol. Funny enough my dad would often use heavy cream rather than half and half...guess he was ahead of the craze.

Btw, a malnourished chain smoking runner is quite a visual

Hopeful, what's your opinion on the annual pumpkin spice (coffee) craze?

I sort of have these topics too. I remember him raving about a restaurant he'd been into with a client and later on learning who the 'client' was

The pumpkin spice craze.. ok. I'd still take my 4 shot Americano with 2 pumps of White Mocha (which I recently swapped with heavy cream). Sweet, creamy, but very bitter.

Any other coffee tricks your dad has?

ShatteredSakura posted 2/24/2020 22:19 PM

Compared to you my dad is a one trick pony

I'd still take my 4 shot Americano with 2 pumps of White Mocha

I'm getting flashbacks to the technical terms WW would use when talking about tea

hopefullife posted 2/24/2020 22:44 PM

I actually associate my health with coffee. I'm the strongest and healthiest in the family. We grew up with the same food but I'm the only one who drinks a lot of it since I was one-digit of age. I'm not picky and I'd drink whatever from instant to brewed to espresso. As long as it's coffee. Sometimes I think the effect is just psychological XD

Sorry about the flashback. How about we talk about milk instead?

ShatteredSakura posted 2/25/2020 13:26 PM

I'm not sure if coffee works that way XD

hopefullife posted 2/25/2020 22:27 PM

Hey, the amount of antioxidants in coffee must be good for something right? XD

I'm working nights this week and the lack of sleep and tiredness remind me of him. I miss him the most when something like this happens. My soul is looking for the other soul who numbs all the pain by just being there. I manage better at normal days. Can't wait to go back to normal working hours.

ShatteredSakura posted 2/25/2020 22:28 PM

Speaking of "milk". The nut milk craze is kinda interesting. Wacky IMO, but peanut nut milk is actually kinda tasty (especially if you get the chocolate version . Of course it was WW who wanted to try it. I mostly stick with cow milk, maybe occasionally raw milk. The best pancakes are made with raw milk.

Tonight I feel like I'm processing some intense rage at WW and AP. I finished binge watching The Last Airbender, and while I enjoyed it I think all the romance subplots got to me.

ShatteredSakura posted 2/25/2020 22:30 PM

Jinx

My soul is looking for the other soul who numbs all the pain by just being there.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

hopefullife posted 2/25/2020 23:15 PM

Almond milk is supposedly healthier and I switch to it at times but I still prefer cow milk overall.

I'm on survival shows lately. I binge watched end of the world movies and I keep imagining if it ever happens, I have a feeling I'll survive lol.

ShatteredSakura posted 2/26/2020 07:20 AM

Yes WW kept trying different almond milk brands, to me they all tasted disgusting. I don't think she was satisfied with any of them either.

I don't think I'd survive in something like a zombie apocalypse. But I do find the thought of living in some remote bunker underground to be a warm and comforting one.

I have a friend who would survive (he's hiked the _entire_ Appalachian trail last year and has a gun collection), people like to joke with him they'll go seek him out to survive in such a scenario. He always says he will have failed if anyone finds him lol, he'll be long gone.

You know what one thing I'm dreading next month? Pie day (March 14). That is our anniversary. I have a pit in my stomach just thinking about it.

You know those moments when the universe decides to play with you? Like how the day you woke up late for work is also the day you misplaced your keys. Murphy's Law. I fear it will be like that for me when apocalypse comes. I'd be ready to die but the universe just wouldn't let me XD

I hold Pie Day special for a very different reason. Do something you've never done before. That's what I did with mine last December.
