jrc1963 posted 9/19/2019 19:50 PM

In the past month both myself and FWSO have had procedures to check for cancer.

Me: Breast

Him: Prostate

We were BOTH given a clean bill of health!!!

Bullet Dodged... Praise God

That's wonderful news!!!!!!!

Hugs.

Must have been nerve wracking going through the tests and waiting. Glad the outcome turned out great.

This is why preventative screenings are so important.

Slight soapbox: I hope you are both up to date on colonoscopies too.
To anyone reading....
Also get it done if you are 50 or older. Or if you have a family history in a 1st degree relative you need to have it 10 years prior to the age they were when Diagnosed.
Also if you have any bleeding pain or unexplained changes in habits get it done.
By the time you have symptoms it is top late. Stepping down now.

Not just 10 years prior to their dx, but earlier than is "normally" recommended to be tested, so I was warned. When I first went for a mammogram and made out the form saying that I had a first degree relative who had been diagnosed with it, I was lectured for waiting until the "normal" age even though my relative was older when diagnosed. I was told that with a first degree relative, one should begin to be screened at a younger age.

I'm not sure how insurance would view that, but that is what they said to me at the screening facility back then.

Jrc, I'm glad you both got an all-clear. The possibility and the wait are excruciating no matter what. Breathe now.
