[Edit 11/04/2019] The checklist of participants has been published

It is time to start signing up for the 2019 SI Christmas Card Exchange! Details and the sign up form are posted here. Any questions/comments can be addressed on this thread. Deadline for participation is Thursday, October 31st.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do we sign up to participate?
A: Please use the online sign-up form if you wish to participate.

Q: But what if I want to remain anonymous?
A: Everyone will remain anonymous. Only the Elves will see the names on the mailing labels. All other participants will only see your username or however you decide to sign your Christmas cards.

Q: How do we handle postage?
A: A list of participants will be posted after the October 31st sign-up deadline which will include the cost of the postage to apply to each participants' envelope. Postage rates are based on USPS first class standard size envelopes for the current rate.

Q: Who applies the postage to the envelopes?
A: All members are required to add their own postage on the envelopes for each recipient.

Q: What about International members sending cards to the United States?
A: Please enclose the correct amount of USD currency you will need for postage in your package and we will purchase the postage on your behalf and the Elves will apply them to your cards during their toy making breaks.

Q: What is the record amount of envelopes sent/received?
A: Our record was 2013 with a staggering 5082 cards!!!

Q: What is the "Real Name" used for on the Christmas Card Exchange form?
A: It's up to you how you want your envelopes labeled. Just specify the name as you would like your postmaster to see it when they deliver your cards. Some members use their real name, some only use their first names and some only use their SI name. It's entirely up to you.

Q: If our spouses/partners are also members here, do they need to sign up as well?
A: No. Only one member needs to sign up on behalf of all family participants. Just make sure to include their username and/or real name on the Christmas Card Exchange form.

We would like to express our deep appreciation to the volunteer Elves that have come to the SI Santa's Workshop to help make all of this possible!! We look forward to the tradition continuing this year. They are wonderful and generous with their time and love for all of you.

I have a several questions?. Do I send them randomly or addressed to certain users? In other words, will I know to whom my letter will be sent?

Generally, how many cards does each participant send?

WalkinOnEggshelz posted 10/15/2019 05:44 AM

After the deadline of October 31st, MH will post a list of the participants. You will send the cards with the postage to the address that will be provided. The cards should be in alphabetical order to help with sorting. Once all of the cards get to headquarters, the elves then sort them, place address labels on them, then they get sent to the participants.

If there are 38 participants, you make 37 (you donít make one for yourself) of your own cards. In return, you will receive 37 different cards.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

WalkinOnEggshelz posted 10/15/2019 06:19 AM

Oh, I forgot to mention that the number of cards varies from year to year. You can get an idea of how many people are participating by keeping an eye on this thread. Itís hard to predict prior to the deadline.

Ok in my excitement and the foggy brain condition I seem to have now I'm not 100% sure I signed up. The page came up but my info was already there from previous exchanges. I hit submit. I assume I signed up for this year? Lol.

Ugh getting old sucks lol

I was going through old files and found the Christmas Moose from my first exchange. Anyone remember that???

ChewedMeUp posted 10/15/2019 07:45 AM

I'm in! And Dragn, when you submit, there's red text that says it's been received, if that helps?

Followtheriver posted 10/15/2019 10:00 AM

I am signed up! I had so much fun participating last year, that I wouldn't miss it for anything.

DragnHeart posted 10/15/2019 10:35 AM

Ok I went through and dis it again and yes I've officially signed up. Yay. Had to make sure. Sorry MH if it went through twice. I cant remember for the life of me if I saw that we received it thing lol.

ThisIsSoLonely posted 10/15/2019 14:23 PM

How will I know where to send them (says PO address pending)? Will it be posted on here?

lieshurt posted 10/15/2019 14:51 PM

Yes, it will be updated soon.

thebighurt posted 10/15/2019 20:53 PM

Oh my goodness, how did it get to be that time again already?! I'm in..... well unless the potential for several thousand participants comes to pass....
