The deadline was October 31st. So sorry.

Chili posted 11/17/2019 13:18 PM

For some strange reason the pup and I seem to be covered in glitter this afternoon. I know not what happened.

PinkJeepLady posted 11/20/2019 14:21 PM

LOL Chili!! 😂

Got my cards in the mail yesterday! Just want to tell you beautiful people that I thought about each of you as I was addressing them - and with each tiny, little shake of glitter! 😏

I don’t post much anymore but still read now and then. I am forever grateful for all the members who patiently listened and supported me, especially in the beginning. Even if I don’t know you personally, you all have a special place in my heart ❤️.

I love Christmas and this opportunity to share some JOY with y’all! I am wishing you and your families much PEACE and LOVE this holiday season! 🎄

To the Elves that make this magic happen, I am deeply grateful for you all! 🎅🏻🤶🏻

WalkinOnEggshelz posted 11/21/2019 08:52 AM

I just wanted to let you guys know that your cards are making it to the North Pole.🎄

DragnHeart posted 11/21/2019 10:47 AM

My cards should be there Monday or Tuesday.

So...does anyone else just go completely spazzy when doing cards up?

Like suddenly forgetting what my own damn name is? A few.times I wrote Dragnheart with the O and though OMG will they know it's me and not another dragon....
A sudden case of the shakes (omg I'm so sorry everyone!!!)
Having my brain freak out that the name isn't in the EXACT MIDDLE OF THE ENVELOPE and demanding I actually measure them...

Oh and then once done writing out all of the cards and before I've even got the glitter out I realize I'm totally covered in glitter...cause the cards I bought already have glitter. So I just glittered myself.

Thislife posted 11/21/2019 21:06 PM

Dragnheart- same!

I totally overthought this whole thing... I signed real names because if they’re displayed my username would be hard to explain - more my husbands than mine.
ETA - now, I think that’s wrong - should’ve done usernames because that doesn’t matter.

I, also, read up on everyone’s info to try to pick the “right” card or, at least, not the “wrong” card .. when I know it’s the sentiment that matters.

And confession - I used the stamps I had because I had a lot and they are not Christmas stamps - fail!

I just want everyone to know that I have not sent a single Christmas card in 3 years and I am so very glad that the first ones I’ve sent have been to each of you! This is a wonderful thing to be part of. TBH, I am feeling very thankful and emotional about it all!!

Ugh - my brain went crazy town... I am out of practice!

However - It is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas....so, I am very thankful for you all!

Just a reminder for all that are participating...

The deadline is fast approaching! There are just 9 days left with a holiday in the mix. Time gets away so quickly and we don’t want anyone left out.

Besides if there aren’t many cards to sort, the elves get unruly drinking too much tequila.

Chili posted 11/22/2019 19:48 PM

And apparently poor little elves on cakes start falling over and stuff (if the pic from sorting last year was any indication.)

I just love this exchange - thanks Woes for helping make it happen. (And I pinky swear I didn't glitter retaliate with you and HT this year.)

thebighurt posted 11/22/2019 21:55 PM

Thislife, you really put a lot into this... a LOT more than I had time to do right now or would do so much research to do. I'm sorry mine won't measure up. But you absolutely rock this.

WOES, my cards will go to the USPS in the morning and hopefully beat the deadline, so I want to apologize to the Elves for the tequila shots you will miss while sorting my cards.

I’m doing my cards up tonight!

Has anyone noticed that glitter is like herpes of the craft world...?🤔
DS hasn’t even touched a card tonight and I just noticed glitter on his face as he stumbled to the bathroom! 😂

DragnHeart posted 11/23/2019 06:57 AM

My cards are sent and will be there before the deadline.

I set up my bed table over our bed and went to town with my glitter container and a spoon, filling each card. WH says to me last night I must have sneezed because its ALL over his side of the bed lol.

I got all of the same cards but they are cute and scream Canada. I mixed 13 containers of different glitter and confetti and each card has a festive sticker on the back. I got stamps but my ink was dry...sorry.

Even the cake elves got a little out of hand last year!

I just want to share that it’s absolutely our pleasure to help keep this tradition going.

It was the card exchange in 2013 that inspired HT and I to meet SI members for the first time. We drove through ice and snow to get there wondering what in the world we were getting into. I was so nervous. MangledHeart opened the door with a great big smile and DeeplyScared welcomed us with a warm embrace. DS and I were instantly friends. This is just a very small way of me honoring her. She was such a special person.

Who knew that something as simple as a Christmas card (and a shit ton of glitter) could bring a little bit of happiness during such a difficult time, not to mention change a life in such a positive way.

Truly special.

Thanks to all who participate. You just don’t know how that card can impact someone’s life.

thebighurt posted 11/23/2019 10:13 AM

Cards on their way. In the hands of the USPS to keep their word to deliver them Tuesday.

Has anyone noticed that glitter is like herpes of the craft world...?
Skoochnski, I believe something to that effect is said every year, if not those exact words.

So true. That first year after Dday I saved up all my cards to open on Christmas Eve. I was all alone that year - just me and the NB pup. But opening that stack of cards will always be one of my bestest holiday memories. It was *exactly* what I needed to still feel connected to others and bring some cheer to an otherwise pretty difficult season.

StormyPrincess posted 11/24/2019 16:25 PM

I just finished the glittering! I will make my trip to the post office tomorrow so the cards arrive in time. I might have wished one of you a happy birthday instead of happy holidays....too busy singing!
Thanks for idea of saving to open. I have Christmas Day to myself this year. That will be what saves me from having a meltdown.

((hugs))

I hope you all are not disappointed, but I did not glitter. I'm a more understated kind of gal. Doesn't mean I don't get a giggle out of those who do.

Fingers crossed that I don't get kicked out.

I missed the deadline, but I am ready to put on my ELF hat and drink tequila...I mean sort cards...

BearlyBreathing posted 11/25/2019 17:46 PM

Cards should arrive on the 29th! Ya’ll put me in the spirit!!

Pa-lease. No one is going to be disappointed with anything! You aren't the only "understated" person around here. (Take me for example - totally restrained).

Wait until you see how many different interpretations you get with the general rule of: "Christmas Card." It's all about the spirit of this place and sharing a little cheer.

I cannot wait wait wait for everyone to start getting their cards in a couple weeks. I love reading everyone's reactions here.
