...you see the highs for the next week will be in the upper 30's to mid 50's all week and you think, "38...really, that's borderline heatwave!"

I know, I'm really excited about our low 40s. (we're in the northeast)

I just asked LD if he wants to go have a picnic. There's a beautiful spot on a lake in our development. He laughed and said, "It's only 40 degrees. I promise, in a few weeks we'll do that."

It just felt so good to feel the sun shining!!!

DS, you are forever in my heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. I will always try to live by the example you have set. I love you and miss you every day and am sorry you had to go so soon, it just doesn't seem fair.

I know what you mean!

I am a teacher, and if it is around 30 in the mornings, my students show up in shorts!

Our dress code prohibits shorts except if they earn it on Fridays only...

And I'll be damned if these kids who earn don't wear shorts even on the coldest day of the year!!!

My DS12 is one of those that wears shorts when it's in the 30's He doesn't have recess anymore, so I don't fight him on it...he's outside for about 5min a day, so as long as he doesn't complain about being cold I don't care

I assume your DS12's school is built like most of those up north where they are completely indoors after they go inside?

Our school is all outdoor corridors... You have to go outside to get from room to room, there are no indoor corridors any where. And there is quite a distance from building 3 to building 6 and building 2 where the cafeteria is located.

So, to wear shorts in 40° weather seems a bit crazy to me...

Yep, no having to go outside for any reason.
