So I'm finally making the switch. I just got back from a large vapor place and I'm pretty satisfied with what I bought. It's the eGo, with the pass-through battery. I think I was started with a bit too strong nicotine level, but I can always go down at the refill. I bought two flavors, which I'm completely digging.

I was amazed by this shop. First of all, when I pulled in and went to look at it on Foursquare, one of my two BFFs popped up as mayor! I texted her and she admitted that she switched about three months ago and hasn't had a real cigarette in about two months. She had a flavor recommendation for me, to boot!

So anyway, this place. When I walked in, I was expecting desperation or sadness or weirdness or something. Instead, I discovered it had the passion of a head shop, the employees were evangelical about the health improvements they experienced and have seen from other customers, and they all had this funky curiosity and bent toward experimentation with mixing the flavors, kind of like a high-end cocktail bartender. It was really very fun to be shown the ropes.

I figured this was a good time to switch, as I need to concentrate when I try to alter habits. The kids are now safely in OH with my folks for several weeks, which gives me time to work out the kinks and find a new groove. I'm a highly-scheduled person (coffee 6:10, first cigarette 6:35, etc. -- I drive my own self crazy). I can tweak my schedule now and see what works without having to worry about piling all the kids' schedules in on top of it.

If you're in the central Texas area, I have a shop (and flavor) recommendations. Throw me a PM.

Thren... I'm also using an ecig (21st Century rechargeable and with the liquid). I have been cigarette free for 50 days and I'm loving the health bennies. I can breathe so much better, I can smell again like you wouldn't believe and the coolest part is that I'm diabetic and my A1C has actually dropped from 6.4 to 5.9!!! I know it's from not smoking cause it's the only change I've made since it happened.

Good Luck and I'm sending TONS of MOJO your way. You *CAN* do this. I smoked 2 packs for 44 years so if I can do it anyone can.

P.s. You might also want to check out a website called quitnet.com I was turned on to it by another member here and it's really helped me. Think of an SI type site to support smoking cessation and you'll have an idea of what it's all about. BTW, I'm "TJ1953" there in case you want any help getting around.

I wish more people were open to this experience.

The folks that I know that have done it, and with the quality E-cigs have all been able to stop.

Just think for each cigarette you aren't smoking you are adding days onto your life.

You knew I'd find an app for this. Here are the stats so far:

Analogs (real cigarettes) avoided: 30.78

Money not burned $9.31

Spent on vaping: $70.85

Money saved: $-61.54

I'm going to throw myself a little party (read: double chocolate malt at Dairy Queen) when the saved status zeroes out.

So part of the story behind this involves my recent trip to Memphis. My parents left for Ohio with the kids, and Mr. T and I wanted to visit Beale Street, home of the blues. We got there at around 1 in the afternoon on Sunday. I was tipsy by 3. By 4, I'd been asked to sing a few times at various clubs because I apparently have that kind of face. So I did, and I thought I sounded gawdawful but everybody was drunk and it was fun. Still, my ego got bruised.

I knew it would happen eventually. Smoking does this, right? But Beale Street?

Like most things that bruise my ego, the fact that I cracked on a crucial portamento in an Etta James song just pissed me right. the. hell. off.

Beale Street **AND** Etta James?

Ding goes the lightbulb.

I've wanted to try vaping for a while, and I've wanted to stop smoking for even longer.

My last cigarette was that night, at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 30. I went 36 hours cold-turkey as a wake-up call to myself (can't explain it, it's just how I roll). When I knew I was about to crack, I went to the vapor shop and told the nicologist (omg, love that) simply, "I broke my voice." He nodded and said, "Dude. Yeah. Let's fix you."

These things helped me quit a 2+ pack a day over 19 years smoking habit pretty easily.

You satisfy both the addiction and the habit as you gradually step down the strengths until you are at 0mg and free from the addiction. Then the tedium of charging and refilling allows you to break the habit.

Then before you know it you are free of the cigarettes completely even if it does mean you end up sitting on the couch eating full jars of Peanut Butter with a spoon.

I'm at 50 days tobacco free as well.

and the ego's are a great brand, bout to pick one up on Friday.

I have a small clearomiser for home, and use the standard cartos when I'm in public.

the tanks make the juice taste way cleaner, but might draw unwanted attention in public

58 days for me. My last one was on May 6th, the day the oral surgeon told me that the spot he'd removed from my tongue two weeks earlier was cancer.

I NEVER thought I would be able to do it, but I don't even want a regular cig anymore... and I don't clear my throat like I used to, and I can breathe better.

Honestly, it probably is saving my life :)

SLHer, I'm still learning the lingo. I have the Clearomi-thingummy, is that what you mean by "tank"? I've seen the metal ones, with the holes punched in, but I don't know what the taste/efficacy difference is between the two types. I do know that the Clearomi-thingummy has these silicone wicks (which you have to replace somehow) which disappear when you put juice in the chamber-doohickey. One of my Clearomi-thingummies was filled at the shop, so when I brought it home and compared it to the unfilled one I freaked, thinking he forgot to put a wick in.

There are apparently meet-up groups for this stuff. My **other** BFF apparently switched too and didn't tell the other two of us. She told me she has some type that's all custom-everything and she has a tacklebox of equipment. I'm not doing that, but I'll go to a meet-up for kicks.

I have the opportunity tomorrow to go up to another town and meet an SIer for a street festival. I kind of want to look ahead and see what vapor shops are in the area to see what custom flavors *they* have.

Maybe I will end up with a tacklebox.

Oh beware that some acidic juices can crack a plastic tank. Here in Tucson there are so many vapors that no one pays any attention anymore except to ask what flavor, talk about batteries/mods, if you use a tank, carto or are a dripper.

good for you!

My last cigarette was on June 17.

I've used the patch and have an e-cig from my local 7-11. I've used it a few times and its come in handy.

I think I'm finally getting used to NOT smoking, but the craving is still there every day.

You can do it. I never in a million years thought I'd quit right now. Never. and wa-la , I just did. No reasons, no scare, no nothing...I just got tired of it.

Congrats Thren!

I need to do this. Badly. I have purchased a few e-cigs here and there, usually the disposable types from Walgreens or convienence stores, never been to happy with them. Seemed way too strong for me...and the fact that they seemed so heavy compared to a real cig bugged me.

Can someone break all this lingo down for me and maybe help me get started? I'm so confused.

Also, anyone have Grave's disease besides me? Smoking is horrible for Graves, but I'm not sure if its because of the 'smoke' or the 'nicotine'.

Should I start a new thread? I don't want to T/j you Thren.
