I was torn between feeling excited and old last night watching my 12 year old go to his first jr. high school dance.

It brought me back to all the dances I went to at school, the fun I had, hanging with your friends, dancing, the excitement. He said he wasn't sure if he wanted to go (not into girls yet), but would and if he wasn't having fun he would call me to pick him up.

Well I never recieved that call and I showed up at 9 and got him at the end of the dance. He had a blast, he even danced with girls...shock..lol, but no slow dances. His best friend didn't go, who he then declared was becoming a hermit..lol.

My baby is growing up too fast, I am not sure I can deal with this, wasn't I just at a school dance a year or two ago. *sigh* this may take some wine to get over.

(((nine)))

Time goes too quick. My DD is almost 13. It seems like just yesterday she was smiling up at me from her crib. Sigh...

DS13 is becoming a dance pro. We (of course) have to "ruin" part of his fun and chaperone every dance I really enjoy it b/c it gives me a chance to interact with all of the kids I subbed for last year

Awww

For some reason my DS's middle school doesn't have dances.

Or he's never asked to go...

But I think they've just never had a dance.
