I had a job interview last Friday, and they called me yesterday at 4:45 to see if I could come back in for a 2nd interview, this morning.
Then right after I left work yesterday, I got rear-ended. On the service road of the freeway, where I was stopped in rush hour traffic. Oh, behind a flat-bed 18 wheeler loaded with some sort of construction beams.
I drive a Hyundai Elantra.
Yeah, for a little bit there I thought I was gonna be toast. Thankfully my front end didn't come that close to the truck.
Anyway, borrowed my son's car and made it to the interview this morning. They needed to run a credit check before they could consider making me an offer.
Aw shit, I had no idea what my credit report looks like in these post-divorce days, other than I know I have way more credit card debt than I used to.
Came home, started making calls to the insurance people. Waited for a call back so I can get a rental. Never got one. More calls to insurance people.
OMG! I get a call. I GOT THE JOB!!!!
Then, I finally get a call back from the insurance people with the info I need to get a rental. Only, the closest Enterprise doesn't have any cars.
So now, instead of calling either another Enterprise or the insurance person back, I'm posting on SI. Because the last 24 hours have been crazy for me, and who better to share that with than 40,000+ of my nearest and dearest friends.
oh, and I'm just fine, btw. Just a little bit of stiffness when I sit for too long, and that goes away when I get up and move.
okay, off to track down a rental car, so I can go to work tomorrow and give them my notice.

So very glad you are okay and that you got the job
No one changes unless they want to. Not if you beg them. Not if you shame them. Not if you use reason, emotion, or tough love. There is only one thing that makes someone change: their own realization that they need to.

Congrats. It's good to know that ability trumps credit card debt.
Sorry about the accident. Make sure you take care of yourself.

Dont be surprised tomorrow morning if you are suddenly very sore. Between the adrenaline and time you may be sore. Be sure to drink a giant glass of water before bed. Mortrin will be your friend, too.
