A darling beautiful 21 year old girl with everything to live for has died with pneumonia from H1N1. A week before she made a video of playing happily with her dog.

H1N1 is back with a vengeance. Please get your flu shot and wash your hands frequently.

I divorced him because I didn't like his girlfriend.

I just got over having the H1N1 flu. I thought I was going to die.

I've never had a flu shot before in my life and I've never had the flu before in my life but I will probably start getting the flu shot from here on out.

I planned to get the shot today, but then a co-worker scared me out of it. I'm thinking I should still do it even though I usually don't. Anyone???

Is H1N1 in the flu shot you normally get? Or do we have to ask for it in addition to the regular flu shot we normally get? I got the normal flu shot a week ago. No one mentioned H1N1.

From the CDC:

Three kinds of influenza viruses commonly circulate among people today: Influenza A (H1N1) viruses, influenza A (H3N2) viruses, and influenza B viruses. Each year, these viruses are used to produce seasonal influenza vaccine.

The 2013-2014 trivalent influenza vaccine is made from the following three viruses:

an A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus;

an A(H3N2) virus antigenically like the cell-propagated prototype virus A/Victoria/361/2011;

a B/Massachusetts/2/2012-like virus.

So yes, an H1N1 strain is included in the vaccine.

I lost a friend to H1N1 in 2009.

She was an otherwise healthy 38 year old vibrant mother of two who randomly fell ill one day and was dead within 2 weeks.

I've never missed a shot since.

Had my flu shot. The one perk I get from my employer every year! I had H1N1 last time it came through (even with flu shot but I think the H1N1was an add on later) so since I've had that strain already would I have some immunities to it?

I took care of a 42 year old lady last week who died two days after Christmas. 48 hours before she was fine. I did everything I could do. Her children barely made it up to the hospital in time. It was awful. Please get vaccinated.

I got a shot in Oct thanks to my employer. I asked DD if she wanted one because they are so easy to get now (most pharmacies offer them for $10-$20). She said no (she did not yet another shot) and I did not force it. I wish I had now.

persevere, the only side effect I had was some itching and slight soreness at the injection site for about a day. Nothing else. In fact a tetanus shot is waaay worse! If you are not allergic to eggs and have never had an adverse reaction before to a vaccine then you should be fine and not have any significant side effects. If you have had a bad reaction to any shot, then consult with your DR before getting it

My coworker is a bit of a conspiracy theorist, she thinks there are aspects of the vaccination that can cause other issues on the future. I'm going to get it today. thanks.

They are saying it's killed several people in Houston. I did get my flu shot and was paranoid but ... I think the shot is going to protect me.

It's scary folks!

In Canada, we get our flu shots FREE in many neighbourhood pharmacies/drugstores. We don't even need to get ourselves to the (free) doctor's office. So we have no excuse, other than people being afraid of side effects.

Not getting it can cause quite severe issues, too--like..........death.

I've nver had an issue with the shot. It gets red and itchy for a few hours then nothing.

My H got one a few years and came down with the flu almost immediately and it was BAD. but they tell you when you get your shot that you can't have a fever, you have to be in good health. So I think he was exposed before he got the shot and being sick/getting shot made him REALLY sick.

He is convinced the shot did it and won't get another one. I tried to tell him it's not a live virus in the shot, only in the nose mist but he's not buying it. So he never gets a shot.

Worrisome.
