So I am quitting smoking. Yay go me and stuff. 3 weeks tomorrow and I am doing pretty ok with it really.
But I sit in a cube area at work and... fucking. everything. is. annoying me today. This one guy's sneezes (he like screams while he is sneezing), the way this one lady says the word 'system', which of course she has said 8,437 times today.... Any other quitters? Is this normal? When does it go away?

Talk to your dr. There are drugs that will make you a bit more tolerant while you are dealing with the real withdrawal you are going through.
Also are noise cancelling earbuds a possibility? I have days where everyone annoys me and I will usually but my headphones on and crank some DMB and do some report reviews and audits. Suddenly after an hour or so I'm much more pleasant and tolerant.

I have a coworker who doesn't just sneeze once. It triggers a long series of sneezes. Often everyone will stop what they're doing and just turn and watch, counting. It easily can go double digits...
That's all I got, an amusing antecedent.
Good luck!

Hahaha tush... This is Ellie already ON drugs! I'd be like that cat on the ceiling in those old looney tunes cartoons if I wasn't
I do the headphones route for sure. Except on Wednesdays cus I have to handle phone calls on Wednesdays...
Sakura thank goodness he doesn't get the double digit sneeze attacks like that! I don't think my nerves can take it right now...

I've never really smoked, but my STXW did - I know it's difficult to quit. That said, I can completely relate with irritating coworkers.
I have one who sits across from me. All day long he sucks in snot. It's like he has a problem regulating his airways or something. It's so completely disgusting - it sounds like he's hocking up a loogey. He's usually good for an hour or two, but once he gets started it's a few times an hour.
It makes me and my coworkers nauseated.

I would 'suggest' a bit of weed to calm your nerves and chill you out..
But...? well... ?? you know....
smy
Seriously, I totally applaud your efforts to quit smoking cigarettes (those gawdawful cancer sticks as we called them 50 years ago or more!!) I never picked up the habit myself. I thought a hamburger and a Coke was a better choice. I still do!!

smy - SIGH... I also quit soda. Rollin up on 2 years for that though, so don't even think about it anymore. And I don't want to go the hamburger route cus I also struggle with my weight (so have been avoiding the drawer full of chocolate in our kitchen at work like the plague).
I'm just a fuckin mess at the moment!!
And yeah, I am in CO, but don't do the weed. Believe me, I'm zany enough without it
Lost, oh em gee - that would drive me crazy even on a normal day. Right now? uh-uh nothankyou.

That's good about giving up soda.
I'm not exactly a pinnacle of healthy habits, but I'm glad I don't have a desire for soda (most of the time, occasionally a really cold cola can be nice). I'm more of a seltzer man if I want bubbly, and if I want something a little sweet I'll just mix in some fruit juice.
To me soda is not very thirst quenching, and if I have too much of it then I feel bleh and full of regret.

I do diet sodas occasionally, but most of the time water or tea. And my coffee in the morning, which I will not ever give up!

If people are annoying you, just go beat the **** out of them or scream at them. They'll stop. And peace & quiet will return at last.
Or, get you twitchy eye right in the face and just keep it there until they stop annoying you.
Easy fixes.

Would that I could bp, would that I could. But you know, job, bills, adulting... all considerations unfortunately. And I think (not sure, but probably) that my employers would frown upon me slapping the shit outta someone. Regardless of how ungodly annoting their sneezes might be
This adulting thing is bullshit. This is NOT what I signed up for!!

Carbs, and lots of them, helped my nerves when I quit.
Now I've got other issues....

Well seltzer and sparkling water are a bit different. But it's like diet soda vs soda to someone who doesn't drink it I guess.
