An unexpected laugh

This weekend I ended up finally finishing installing the rest of the engineered flooring. Two years ago I had done everything but one room - which was xWW “craft room”. The little laugh I had was this:

Oh, about seven years ago, when I finished the second floor, she wanted to turn the kids old bedroom into a room for her crafting and stuff. I pulled the rug and cleaned it up. We went to liver liquidators and found a discontinued laminate floating floor, and they had just enough sq feet in stock. $175 dollars later, and an afternoon, I installed the floor. Side note - she also wanted cabinets, so she told me to grab the kitchen cabinets that were kinda crappy, and told me she would pick up some part time work and we could buy new ones. Surprise! Never happened.

Aaaanyway, as im pulling up the crappier laminate flooring, I find a note written on the sub floor. Just a little thing I do when I make an improvement. It read:

“(HappyCamperDude) was here. Wife says it’s march 3rd. Where would I be without her? 2013.”

I laughed. Grabbed my sharpie and added a line:

“Better off!”

I then added a little further down “she ran off to chase a married man...he’s still married. Guess I got the last laugh! 9/6/2020.”

Last year I would have been devastated and held back tears. Just goes to show ya that somewhere down the line you can laugh and enjoy those small moments of victory.

Live if too short to waste time on someone doesn’t spend time on you.

Ride off into the sunset by yourself. She’s not worth it.

So glad you were able to see humor in the situation, rather than letting it be a trigger. Huge progress!

Love it!!!!

My first laugh post split came this week when my 15 year old came home from a weekend with the STBX and said, "His place has roaches and a fridge from the 80s."
