WOW - only 37?

How sad. Hopefully we'll do better next year!

Somehow it managed to snow outside my home today in beautiful large flakes. And then what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a snowfall of glitter inside my home and no snow thrower in here!🙄 Thanks to all!😎🌈

It was sadly our largest year of people signing up but not sending cards in.

That's terrible. What happened to the cards that were supposed to go to those who signed up but didn't participate?

Any pics of the cards that made it through the mail?? That's my favorite part!

LT - I just emailed SI staff and asked that too...

OMG the glitter!! It is all over the place

Just as an aside - what a perfect day for this delivery... My divorce is final as of today and these cards are the first mail I got with my maiden name on it! Much symbolism, so sparkle, wow.

Merry Christmas all you glorious glitter fiends!

They still get the cards that everyone else sent them. The exchange has always been about giving and not receiving . We had a stack in the mailbox today, and I'm not going to count them. I'm just going to bask in the glitter of those that did send them to us, and be grateful for their generosity.

Eight exchanges ago I first participated in this wonderful event, and I remember the catharsis of receiving that first shipment of SI comfort and joy. May those who signed up to participate this year but for some reason did not experience the same, and hopefully reciprocate in some way in the future.

I told my H a bunch of cards would be coming for me and they might have some glitter. He usually gets the mail first so I asked him to please put them in a bag for me. He says sure!

Tonight I get home from a work party and he says, yes, a bunch of cards came. I said great, where’s the bag? He said, oh I put them on your pillow! Trying to be so thoughtful.....❤️

I surely will be dreaming sweet, glittery dreams of you my friends as my pillow is quite sparkly tonight! 😂😂😂 wasn’t quite expecting that - but hey - just adds to the Christmas magic!

Ellie- perfect timing and I hope you remember all this love and support for many years to come!

Merry Christmas to my SI people! 🤶🏻🎅🏻🎄

I'm already thinking up a way to use the glitter to make a Christmas decoration... Not sure what I want to do yet.

This was just a perfect way to close out this day!

Ellie,

We collect the glitter in a bowl as we open the card, then put it in the clear bulbs that you can purchase from most craft stores. The bulbs hang on our dedicate SI Christmas tree. Full disclosure, so do a lot of people

Hmmm Tred... That's an idea. I was considering maybe something with resin.

For now the glitter is safely ziplocked until I decide what to do. Well... The glitter that didn't end up on me, the floor, the cats, and the mailbox anyways

We collected as much of the glitter as we could and put it in a ziplock gallon bag. We gave the glitter to our 6 year old granddaughter so she can work her artistic magic. Her eyes really lit up when she saw the bag of glitter. So much fun.

DD, DS and I ordered sushi from our fave restaurant and had UberEats deliver it. Then we ate and sat in the floor and opened cards! We have a 9x13 pan full of glitter! My kids are 16 and 15 (respectively) and it was nice spending time with them because I’m not their first choice when choosing who to hang out with.

They especially loved all of the little “treasures” that were tucked into each card and it became a competition to see who could get the most!

We had sooo much fun! Thank you to everyone for these wonderful feelings!

My sentiments exactly Tred.

I have an ornament filled with glitter and confetti dated for each year, as well. I have also saved every card I have received from exchanges throughout the years. I want to come up with some sort of craft that I can use them for.

Happy Holidays my SI family.

Had the rest of the cards later yesterday. Seems the USPS is delivering more than once a day, dividing up the mail lately.

I echo what Tred and WOEZ said about the SI ornaments. I also have one for each year's collection, and have all the cards like WOEZ, along with a list of each year's participants.

I have been a part of receiving glittery cards of cheer each year except one when I was out of the country, but still managed to join in to send one card. One member's cards didn't arrive and I was allowed to get the address to send a card. I put so much sparkly cheer into the card that the post office there declared it a "package" and gave me the option of writing a message on the card explaining the contents or going to a counter to make out a Customs form.

There was a long line and I had someone waiting for me, so I wrote the note at the window rather than going to fill out the form and going back to the end of that long line. I still regret not doing the Customs form. How cool would that be to get a card from a different country that had a Customs form attached declaring the contents of the heavy "package" contained "1 card" and "glitter/confetti"?

That would have been very cool indeed thebighurt!!! 😂😂

I have only participated one other time and so glad I saved the glitter in an ornament - it means a lot coming from my fellow survivors!

I stayed up late by myself last night watching an old holiday movie favorite, Trapped in Paradise, and opening the cards. Such fun, laughing, catching glitter to save (so many different types - impressive!), trying not to get any in my cinnamon coke and then the hilarious movie (Nicholas Cage ❤️ -what a great night!!!

I'm glad to hear that! I know at one point it was said that if you didn't give, you didn't receive. And that was when I stopped participating in the exchange. I still wonder what happened to the cards that I made for those who ended up not being able to participate.

I have mason jars with the glitter from the years I did participate. I actually have one year's batch of cards that I still haven't opened. I'm not sure what I'm waiting for... but I have all of the cards in a large bowl in my desk closet. Every year I say this is the year I'm going to open them and display them.

I'm someone who failed at sending and let me tell you, I feel awful. When we signed up, I literally came into the F&G forum bc someone posted on the General (?) page about this exchange. I was so looking forward to writing notes to each of the recipients and had a whole stack of handmade cards ready to go when it was time.

Then my infidelity brain completely forgot about coming back to the F&G forum to look for further details. Like completely. Until yesterday and the mail carrier brought a stack of lovely cards. And y'all. I just feel horrible. I can't even begin to tell you how horrible. So I'm going to take a picture of your cards and send private messages - it might take me a while to get through them.. I didn't put glitter on them though, so you aren't missing much by just getting a photo.

Please know that I so appreciate every single one of you who participated and the elves that made it possible. It's such a great pick-me-up when life is not going so well to get mailbox love. I am so disappointed that I dropped the ball on doing the same for each of you.

Oh my goodness - you all are the bestest best. What a fabulous crop of glittery happiness this year! I hope all the folks new to the exchange enjoyed their big old stacks of kindness (y'all figured out how to send glitteriness/joy like old hats!) It makes me smile so.

And a special shout out to everyone who taped, glued or otherwise made their envelopes into total glitter bombs - well done.

To the elven flock - serious gratitude. P.S. - does chocolate go with tequila at all?
