The juror in question is reportedly believed to have discussed the case with other jurors. This behavior is forbidden in criminal trials until deliberations begin at the end of trial.

This expert witness (Jennifer?) is not helping her client. Everything she is saying can be applied to Jodi's behavior.
Mistrial avoided, juror #5 booted!
ETA. I think her name is Alison.

I can't wait for the state to cross examine her. I hope he tears her apart.

Watching the trial now... I don't like this lady. Apparently when someone is cheating and the BS experiences self blame that is indicative of being a DV victim. For reals??!! I missed that boat.
I think what I am disliking about her is how all encompassing her standards of being a DV victim is. "Travis raising his voice to Jodi 3 octaves is a significant sign of a domestic abuser."

@Dark Inertia
Scary isn't how Travis was all this and that yet he was stabbed 29 times shot in the head and throat slashed and dead in the shower.
You know the men on the jury are thinking wow I did that to my gf or wife....am I abusive too?
And the women too if you argue with you mate and yell in the heat of the argument are you an abusive spouse.
Growing up my neighbors every other weekend it seems we were calling the police because the husband would get drunk and beat up his wife.
There is a big difference between yelling at your partner and beating them up, emotional, mental abuse but there was nothing shown so far from the "expert's " that I heard.
When women leaves her abusive partner is the most dangerous time, and once out and away from their abusive partner they don't go back if their not sweethearted back, we all heard how they both agreed that the didn't do well together and were over.
Yet Jodi drove thousands of miles back to her abuser that didn't even try to get her back.
It makes me sick that they are using a abuse excuse to talk Jodi out of a death sentence when they hadn't even shown an ounce of evidence to back up their claims.

...and couldn't make it across town for the funeral.
I too believe this witness is going to backfire. She is just repeating everything Jodi has told her with her "professional" spin.
The interrogation tapes of her mom and dad are sure telling.

I haven't watched the past couple days so I'm in catch up mode.
I pretty much haven't watched anytime the Defense is up because they repeat the same crap for dayyyyzzzz on end, and I find myself nodding off. *yawn*
Are they using the tapes of her parents in court? Or is that another one of those "the jury won't see these" things?
Oh, and did anyone see anything about the "expert witness" for the Prosecution who's house was broken into last night?
Can this circus get any weirder!?

I had a few hours today so I was hoping I could catch up. Started watching and, the next thing I knew, it was an hour and half later. I had the most awesome nap, but still haven't caught up!
Even IF, and this is a huge IF, Travis was a little emotionally abusive to Jodi, the abused woman syndrome really doesn't hold up in this case at all.

Her diary entries reads like a teenager, very very strange.
The interview with her parents were not entered into evidence but the mother asking Jodi if she did this telling as hell that she knows what Jodi is capable of doing something like this.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to assume that the journals were manufactured after his murder. At least some of the later entries.
Everything this witness is saying is predicated on the lies of Jodi Arias. It's meaningless.
Furthermore, to many, she's coming across as a man-hater, and may be very off-putting to the jury.
Everything she describes about abuse describes Jodi.
I wish the jury were able to see the videos of her parents. I suppose that will come during the sentencing phase, when they decide to go with the "she's too sick to execute" defense.

Exactly. I find it very boring and pointless. If I was on that jury I think all I would be hearing from this witness is "blah, blah, blah" .
Does Juan get to cross exam her when the defense is done with this witness?

Dr.Drew had on a woman who was an abused wife and she was livid with the so called expert for abused women on the stand.
She said this expert has damaged her career while on the stand and is making statement about Jodi that coincides with what an abuser would say about his/her actions.

Bert -n- Ernie just accused ALL of the jury of being "liars" and insisted they be sequestered for the remainder of the trial.
Juan (my hero)
came to their rescue.
Way to get on the good side of the jury, Bert-n-Ernie.

Yes calling the jurors liars is not to bright especially when your client lied to the police with the whole ninjas breaking in ...

RT,
I totally agree about the commercials. It drives me crazy too. "We will hit the pause button..."
Whatever, ugh!
I DVR all of the HLN shows and then I start watching about 2 hours in so I can speed through the commercials.

Does Juan get to cross exam her when the defense is done with this witness?
Oh, yes--yes, indeed he does
In fact, I believe LaViolette's sudden "illness" yesterday (and she was diaphoretic and pale) yesterday came on the heels of an objection by Martinez. He smiled when it was sustained--and LaViolette, seeing this, seemed to visibly pale; the color drained from her face and within minutes, some sort of bat-signal established that court needed to end for the day. It may have been coincidence; maybe she got food poisoning at lunch. But it sure seemed that she had a response to Juan--and was shaken up. (I hope so. How anyone can engage in the intentional smearing of a murdered man for money is beyond my comprehension.)
I think it hit her that she's put e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g on the line for what well might amount to nothing more than the lies of a psychopath---that she was duped, and will now face a scathing cross-examination from a man smart enough to know JUST what to ask to make her look very, very misguided.
I think Juan can very easily dispatch this witness, though; IMO, he should spend very little time--just as quickly as possible establish that every single thing she has concluded comes from what this murderer has told her, or what she read in the murderer's possibly-manufactured journals. He also can, very quickly, establish that everything she's described as abuse describes behavior exhibited by Jodi Arias-that by her very own definitions, Jodi Arias is an abuser. I believe he should treat her with a careful blend of respect--for her expertise in the field-and dismissiveness-for her complete reliance on hearsay.
I also hope that Juan re-calls some of the friends this witness has impugned to bolster her claims against Travis Alexander; I am sure that they are livid their words have been used the way the defense has done.
This woman is on the SEVENTH day of testimony, and has done nothing to bolster the defense claims, IMO.
I wish to God they'd just FINISH UP WITH HER.
