Help wanted:

Long hours, no pay.

Someone familiar with suburban Dallas to organize a group of out-of-towners seeking chicken hats, polka bands, beer, and camaraderie.

Must be willing to put up with eccentric SIers.

Unfortunately, it appears that cryingdaily, Rise_Above, and DS and MH will be absent.

Now the real facts:

We need to coordinate hotels, the actual Oktoberfest, and restaurants for Friday and Saturday. If you're really energetic, you can organize some sight-seeing, like Daly Plaze, Southfork, and whatnot. SI folk can pretty much entertain themselves beyond that.

If worst comes to worst, we can use the same places as last year.

Umm... Moo? What were those places last year? PM me, please.

TH...

I gave Moo two really great restaurant suggestions last year...I'm betting he still remembers them

You know it's really sad - I live in a 'burb of Dallas but on the Southwest end of the County and I work in that little city 30 miles to the West aka Fort Worth (Dallas and Fort Worth are about as different as night and day).

I know NOTHING about Addison and that area North of Dallas. Anything from Arlington/Grand Prairie West towards FW and I'd have tons of ideas. But, if you want, I'll put my thinking cap on and put out some feelers to my meet-up buddys up in that neck of the woods and see what I can come up with :)

okay, I notice nobody else is jumping in to volunteer.

I also know this is almost 3 months away so we've got time to figure out the hotel, etc. But since I didn't get to go last year, I don't have a clue about where y'all stayed, other than it was somewhere you partied in the lobby.

So, feel free to chime in with what you do or do not want, but I'm thinking along the lines of relatively inexpensive, within walking distance to Oktoberfest and if possible, a hotel with those suite type rooms since that worked out so well for the after party at the Austin area g2g.

Does that sound about right to everyone?

Yes. That's right.

I'm with Holly and more of a FW girl. But I can probably come up with some suggestions. I would be willing to be co-coordinator with someone...

13 years later...finally healed. Definitely survived and thrived and you can, too.

inconnu was right; I missed the offers.

I'll tell you what: punky, tracionada, and Truthseekholly, why don't you all get together by PM or facebook or something and coordinate what you can? I'm up here in St. Louis and will offer all the moral support you want, and I'll mix martinis for you at the G2G.

I'm on facebook if you feel the need to keep me in the loop, but really, I'm just an enthusiastic attendee, not an official organizer.

Take care of yourself. There's a great future out there. It won't come to you; you have to go to it.
