I'll be on the East Coast at some time this spring/summer. Probably not May, but I will keep my eye on this thread.

All the times I've been to Jersey I never knew there were dry towns. I know lots of places don't have liquor licenses but you can BYOB. At least I know my sister doesn't live in a dry town...

OC is dry. No bars. But there are plenty of restaurants, BYO and several great places just over the main causeway, bars and restaurants. Lodging will be cheap in May. The motels are not fancy, for the most part, just basic. But close to, or ON the smallish, family type boardwalk.
AC isn't dry, of course, but weekend casino rooms are pricey, unless you are a player, or stay away from the water.
I can be a researcher for OC but probably won't be able to attend if it's the 19th. I'll help...

Thanks, Teach...my birthday is the 19th and my son works on Sundays so I don't know when they will plan a party. My fWH and my kids always fuss, it wouldn't be a good idea for me to skip it!
So it's likely that I'll be busy for part of the weekend but may be able to run down for a fly by. Both AC and OC are only 50-60 minutes from me...
I would love to but faces to names! And I am always up for a trip "down the shore!"

I'm paying attention to this thread. It will be a real stretch but depending on when the G2G is, it may be a good time for the kids to visit their grandparents. Then we'd only be a hour and a half or so away.

Opps. Sorry. I did a bit of research for lodging and found a place that starts at $175 per room. It's in a central location in OC and has a (dry) restaurant on site for breakfast and lunch.
It's not fancy, but it is clean. I have stayed there. It's South Jersey shore turquoise and pink, starfish and seashells.

Point Pleasant boardwalk was destroyed. The tiki bar was washed away. If you are familiar with the municipal parking lot by the rides, that whole lot is filled with sand mountains. And I mean mountains. Right off the boardwalk is still pretty bad. Downtown itself is fine. Lots of good food around there. I was just there New Year's Day so that damage update is current.
