I have two big dogs. I have had really good luck with craigslist. Realtors and property management companies tend to be way less flexible.

But that's just a lot of water
Underneath a bridge I burned
And there's no use in backtracking
Around corners I have turned

militarybyowner.com saved my hide. it's awesome! miami has military bases and personnel. i found the greatest lady, explained my credit/bankruptcy situation and even let her in on some of my drama and need to start over. i had a 105lb dog, two cats, a toddler, and freshly discharged bankruptcy that included me giving up my house. my credit was shit but my job history and references were good. she decided to help me on purpose....because she was an actual person, not a company with a form.

militarybyowner.com is a listing service for all kinds of military folks selling and renting their properties as they move about from station to station. some of them still use property managers but most of them manage their own. they are good about listing pet limitations, etc. and a lot of them have small single-family homes or townhouses instead of true condos.

Hurt... would you consider living in Homestead, Leisure City, Naranja, Princeton or Goulds? Kendall and Kendall Lakes were nice when I lived down there...

The Hammocks is new and might be a bit of a haul to Cocoanut Grove.

@jrc - those are very, very far away. I really do not want to spend 2-3 hours a day commuting. I lived in Miami in the 90's and those commutes would be brutal. If I had to spend 8-9 hours at work plus an additional 3-4 hours in a car, the dogs would be better off rehomed.

@stretch I'll check out militarybyowner. Thanks!

Nothing on militarybyowner :/

Called several vet offices and left my phone number and name. I also contacted the humane society of Miami but they just told me to check off "takes dogs" on apartment services and to talk to my realtor.

I cannot believe how difficult this is. I've never had such a problem finding a place.
