Hi Lighthouse

I hope you are doing ok. It is a very scary diagnosis. I was diagnosed with Acral Lentiginous Melanoma on my foot.

Yes - foot. It can happen I thankfully was diagnosed with a low Stage 1A.

Good resources for me were AIM at Melanoma, Melanoma International Foundation, and Melanoma Prayer Center.

I cannot stress enough to get anything that strikes you as weird or "funny" checked out by a dermatologist. Don't wait. The deeper the growth, the more dangerous the melanoma lesion can be. When in doubt, cut it out. Wear sunscreen, make sure your kids are protected, don't forget feet and toes, don't use tanning beds.

Hope you will let us know how you are doing.

Sending healing thoughts. BP

Well I have an update and it's not a super happy one.

I had been booked with a new surgeon and met with him back in mid - August. In addition to explaining the procedure and healing process he ordered further tests to be done prior to surgery so they could rule things out.

First up was blood work to make sure liver and kidney function was good. All fine there - nothing out of the ordinary. That was taken care of fairly quickly back in August.

Next up was a CT scan of the abdominal and chest area. The results from that came back on Tuesday of this week...not good. The contrast used in the CT indicates there is activity in lymph nodes in the abdomen near the pancreas. It's peri pancreatic not on the pancreas.

My surgery for Oct 1 has been cancelled - they feel the radioactive stuff would certainly drain to the area that showed in the CT and they are not prepared do deal with that in that particular surgical procedure.

So I've had further blood tests and going for abdominal ultrasound on Monday and will have a long needle abdominal biopsy done later in the week. They will take about 8 core node samples and type what this is.

Nothing is certain, I'm scared and tomorrow my brother and I are driving to see my dad and his wife to tell them what has transpired. They were aware I had something removed back in July and thought as I did back then that it would all be fine - i opted to not say anything as i didnt want to worry them and it was a matter of just ensuring it was all gone and not spread.

As things have changed, there appears to be spread and I need support and can't tell others without my father knowing everything...it has to be done.

It will be fine, I will be fine. I choose to fight and hope.

All prayers and good thoughts, mojo whatever you got are gladly accepted.

Thank you :)

I release the past so I am free to fight for my future unencumbered.
