I go to book club to read and discuss. If I wanted to get together with women to wine, laugh and whine, I'd form that kind of club.

Authentic now, just finally got to read Coehlo's "Veronicka" book. I thought it would be great for a book club that wants to talk about a book!

I've been trying to read books that are suggested to me by others. For the most part, it's been great. I've read things that I absolutely would not have chosen on my own. BUT..... I was given "Guilty Pleasures" by Laurell Hamilton.

This may bring an end to my reading experiment. It's so bad that it makes my eyes hurt. That's not accurate, it's goddamn bad.

I read another one for the book club that you might like---it's Day After Night by Anita Diamant.

Authentic now, I read one that sounds very similar. Can't remember the title. Was one of the characters in this book a German who was pretending to be a Jew to get out of Europe? If it was, I really did like it.

I just read "When She Woke." It is a futuristic take on the Scarlet Letter. I would love for you to read it to discuss! It's not a discussion I would have with anyone!

I couldn't nail myself down to one genre or author. Reading for me is like having a craving for a specific food. I have a taste for something, I seek it out.

I like murder mysteries, vampires, etc.

Unfortunately, haven't read since DDay. Attempted twice. I was an avid reader. Hopefully it will return soon.

I love John Sandford's Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers series, if you've never read them. Crime/Mystery. Fun reads.

If you like SciFi at all, Kelley Armstrong writes some awesome novels. I got my husband hooked on her. She's a great storyteller.

Skye, yes, that's it. It was the story of four different women who were being held in a detention camp in Israel after the war ended.

I'm in the middle of a book now, and then I have to start the one for my March book club. After that, I'll try to get my hands on the book you mentioned and we can 'discuss'.

It was beautifully written, but sad. It's about the grieving process when one loses a loved one very suddenly.

I want to read Blue Nights next about her relationship with Quintana Roo.

Agreed. It would make a tough book club read.

I have a dear friend who is dying of cancer and am reading memoirs about death and dying in an effort to find meaning and peace. It helped me from that perspective, although her husband's death was sudden.

Hard to believe that Quintana passed away shortly after The Year of Magical Thinking was published, isn't it?

Just looked at my book club schedule and see "Year of Magical.." for April. Glad to read these comments first. I don't generally care for memoirs but can see where this one can bring some understanding of what others are going through.

There is an Elizabeth Berg book about a woman whose friend is dying of cancer. I read it a few years ago. OMG, that was a good book. Can't think of the name, but if you google Elizabeth Berg you might find it. I'll hunt around to see if I can come up with it.

Skye, I think you and I have similar taste in books and I think you'll appreciate it. Her perspective is intense and interesting and sad...and so much of it makes sense. It just makes you feel so empathetic and...I don't know...but I think you'll like it.

I just finished 11/22/63 by Stephen King.

I really loved it. I was born in '76, so I was not around for Kennedy, and this book brought the early 60's to life for me in much the same way The Help did.
