I am waiting for some days off from work and then I am going to settle in with a few good books. In my job I read medical charts all day long so a light and fluffy read is about all I can manage without a vacation from work. I think I will read Water for Elephants and I am looking into the Night Circus book. I love my romance books, but sometimes a change is good too. I can't read and reread the Black Dagger Brotherhood series for the rest of my life.

My 16 year old daughter just started reading books by Lauren DeStefano. The series is called The Chemical Garden and she really enjoyed the first book. I believe it was called Wither. The second book is out now and it is titled Fever. I know nothing about these books but she really enjoyed them.

My son has 'The Hunger Games' Book 1 & 2 on his Kindle (I do not have a Kindle...yet). I managed to somehow convince him to let me borrow his Kindle the last 2 weeks so that I could read Book 1. Now, I cannot wait to read Book 2, but my son actually wants his Kindle back. Can you believe that?! (lol) Anyhow, I will find a way to get my hands on his Kindle so I can read Book 2...asap!!!

I just finished a collection of zombie short stories, now I'm in the middle of WWZ.

I get on theme kicks...apparently right now it's zombies.

I'm reading 11-22-63 by Stephen King and am halfway through. I love it.

I'm reading another book in a second language which is called Senor Peregrino by Cecilia Samartin.

Ok. This is sooo not funny. I read current fictional trash and right now I am feeling totally shallow. I cannot even pretend to be reading something 'deep'.

David Baldacci's newest. Zero day? Sad, I can't even remember the title.

eta: water for elephants was very good. 11/22 by Stephen King left me hanging. It was good, and then it was just....ummm..over. Kinda disappointed, and I loooove SK!

Wandered back to Anne McCaffrey's dragon books lately. Has anyone read all of them?

Any particular faves?

I've read all the ones by her, but not the more recent ones by her son. I'm partial to the first six - the dragon riders trilogy and the harper hall trilogy. Besides those though, I think I like the Masterharper of Pern the most out of the ones I've read.

I did read one of his books by mistake, ended up loving it.

Hide Me Among The Graves by Tim Powers. It's about vampires, but scary vampires that kill your family and friends because they're jealous and eat your soul slowly. Kind of. Set in the 19th century. He's the same author who wrote On Stranger Tides, the book they based the last Pirates of the Caribbean on. Which he wrote after going to Disney and getting all into the ride back when.

Also, it's loosely historical fiction and one of the main characters is Edward John Trelawny. If you read Stress of Her Regard it is similar and kind of trails after that and Anubis Gates.

I'm rereading a fantasy series from several years ago. James Clemens Banned and Banished series. Good, gory, epic fun.

I'm also reading Losing Control, Finding Serenity: How the Need to Control Hurts Us And How to Let It Go and Emotional Infidelity: How to Affair-Proof Your Marriage and 10 Other Secrets to a Great Relationship. Gotta keep the A/self-help stuff in the mix, too!

Reading the Game of Thrones series. Still on book one but loving it!

I mentioned in another thread that I would be completely lost with all the characters and how they related had I not watched the series, so in this case it did help to see the show first.

I don't think I will read past book two because I don't want to spoil the show for myself so I'll be perusing this thread for some new ideas.

I've been reading on husbands Blackberry Playbook and I am so glad I didn't invest in another ereader when mine bit the dust. It's the perfect size and another ereader would have been a waste. The kobo app works perfectly on it.

Have an urge to read "The Good Earth" books again too.

Waiting for Sunrise by William Boyd. I'm only about halfway through, but so far it's amazing.

NEH - If you want something light (and a little silly) and a bit of a taste of home, try A Surrey State of Affairs by Ceri Radford. It's entertaining enough that I can't even hold it against her that she writes for The Telegraph.

I am mostly reading Laura Hillenbrand's Unbroken. I come and go on one of Jim Butcher's Codex Alera books. It just can't keep me happy right now. Why do fantasy editors give sooo much leeway? I just finished Followng Atticus which had an ending I did NOT approve of.
