Yuck.

I picked up a pack of Fruit Stripe Gum at the check out counter the other day. A little nostalgia for me, I used to love it when I was young.

Obviously it has changed. It now has Melon flavor and Peach.......which tastes like....well.....what I think ass probably tastes like.

I hate being old.

Whether we remain ash or become phoenix is up to us.

If there was only youtube video of you tasting it. Maybe you should run out and get some Crunch Berries Cereal or something to help out.

Speaking of Capt Crunch.........I picked that up the other day too (I don't usually grocery shop, that is Mr. kds job....now you know why)

It has changed too. Doesn't taste at all like Capt.Crunch.

Constantly updating classics. You'd think they would learn from Coca-Cola's massive screwup back in 1986.

If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it.

Yeah, Fruit Stripe gum used to be pretty good.

But MELON flavored? Yuck.

The crunchberries in Capt Crunch are freakish-looking now - even more unnatural colors than the olde timey ones!

Normal non-crunchberry Capt. Crunch seems pretty much the same though. And no weird/scary colors.

t/j on Cap't Crunch and CrunchBerry

Does anyone else notice how it leaves a shortening like film on the roof of your mouth when you eat it?

Did you know that as we age, the number of "sweet" taste buds diminish?

That might account for why things we loved as kids taste different or "off"...

but MELON fruit stripe gum???? That's just freakin' sacreligious!

t/j Capt Crunch...

I saw a box of JUST CRUNCHBERRIES... yes, it's true! Couldn't wait to get it home.

It was,,.

yukky.

Crunchberries get soggy way faster than the golden crunch nuggets.

SOOOOO disappointing!

Little known fact...

The Cap'n was never called a Captain. He has always Been Cap'n.

I guess Captain didn't fit on the box when they first designed the logo.

It is one of those cereals I will never forget and always loved. However, it always tore the roof of my mouth to shreds.

I never cared for the berries or the other additions. Just the plain ole' Cap'n was good enough for me.

Now, call me strange, but I also enjoyed the Full Sized Shredded Wheat. You would need maybe 2 "biscuits" worth for a bowl. And if you did not add at least a little sugar, it was pretty much like being a grazing cow to eat the stuff. But I loved the texture.
