Anybody else kind of want to punch Mac's mom in the face?

It nagged him, in particular, that none of the girls he’d known so far had given him a sense of unalloyed triumph.

I'm not finished yet, but almost!

Actually I want to punch Barrons in the face right now. He's being weird. (About 79% in--thank you Kindle for your precision).

13 years later...finally healed. Definitely survived and thrived and you can, too.

Yeah, but punching Barrons in the face is courtship.

I was already sick of the parents being mentioned *constantly*, then the first glimpse we get of the lady she shows distaste for Mac's *manicure*. Coming to rescue you from captivity by a renegade former Fae and the woman's first thought is to think Mac's manicure sure does look rough. Seriously lady, priorities.

Then they show up at Chester's and the immortal dudebros speak positively about them based on her biscuits or whatever. *Please*.

It nagged him, in particular, that none of the girls he’d known so far had given him a sense of unalloyed triumph.

So true about her mom. I mean if she was that ate up over the manicure, you'd think she'd be raising holy hell over the nekkid--probably erected--people and non-people running around in the glass building with no privacy having crazy all combination sex. That was nuts.

I like the ending actually. It made sense to me.

However, there was a segment where the Mac lists the reasons why she is the UK and they reasons why she is not...I believe they were numbered lists. A couple of those items directly conflicted with what we know about her. That was aggravating...

I'm glad Barron's problem was taken care of. That broke my heart. I can't imagine living with that forever.

13 years later...finally healed. Definitely survived and thrived and you can, too.

Another odd thing is how quickly the whole "Barrons helped her mom escape and oh look he's been stalking me since before he was supposed to know who I even was" was dropped. Really? Because that's totally creepy and means he was faking that first day. Not sure why that is even in there.

Figure at some point the V'lanesicle will be unfrozen. Like him much more now.

Also want to know what is on the mural on the ceiling of BB&B.

It nagged him, in particular, that none of the girls he’d known so far had given him a sense of unalloyed triumph.

Oh yeah, faux Vlane will not be there forever...concrete and iron or not!

Did the book say that Barrons had been stalking her since before she was born or the UK/book had been?

He was the one who got her mom away from the abbey, which could still mean he had no idea who she was when she showed up, *except* that in the stack of stalker photos he had in his hidey hole had pics of her as she was checking in to the hotel upon arrival, and that preceded her barging into BB&B, where he acted like he'd never seen her before. Which he is still maintaining even after she finds the photos, since he talks about their initial meeting and the horndog feelings it engendered.

It also begs the question of whether or not he's lying about knowing Alina, what with him being her landlord.

Not problematic (except for the general stalker issue) if the stalking had started *after* she came into BB&B. Probably just sloppy writing. I suppose a way out would be to claim they were from lobby surveillance cameras at the hotel, though. I can't remember if any of the other photos were pre-barge in, but that was definitely was.

It nagged him, in particular, that none of the girls he’d known so far had given him a sense of unalloyed triumph.

I didn't think so. They're really very very standard issue big group of guys that you intro and hook up with some boring basic girl in successive entries. I certainly didn't feel like I needed to consider tapping a vein, I kinda skimmed 'em.

She has a short story called (I think) Into the Dreaming which is kind of an Unseelie King/Seelie Queen thing...but supposedly it's unrelated to anything else. However, I believe that's an untruth because it was put out through a different publisher. It's pretty obviously showing the moment where...err...somebody put the SQ on ice. Somebody who *loooooks* like the UK down to the wings but *iiiiiiisn't* the UK. Who could that be.

Okay.

I want to grab Karen by the hair and make her write the book *I* want.

More Barrons, less "epic" Mac. Fewer dangly bits that seem to be post-it notes for possible books she might write later (Dani). Fewer things I don't care about (parents). Certainly absolutely no barbeques, not a one.

Kind of want to know more about the UK conglomerate and the concubine/faux SQ. *That's* epic romance.

I want a whole book about Barrons. And, much as I appreciate Mac as a device to see more Barrons, I don't get the appeal. I did like the bit where she admitted she didn't tell him when she stopped being priya, and he was gleeful. That was as close to cute as Barrons should ever get.

Also, I would like to know more about Vlane from Vlane's point of view, and the Druid crew who, though interesting and all, seemed like something of a random addition to the lineup. More than "some Druids who know ritual necessary for the story arc" but less than fleshed out characters, I found them irksome.

Maybe I need to re-read the first 3 books, not just the priya parts. I have the sensation of having skimmed some necessary bit, not realizing it would be important later.

But, back to the point. Which is more Barrons.

Hooking up with an epic guy doesn't make you epic. It makes you an epic mount.

At some point I began hearing her as Buffy. That helped a bit. Irritating combativeness is palatable coming from Buffy, as is barely legal blondeness.

Of course that made Dani = Dawn. Which is totally 100% fitting.

What *are* we reading now? I went from Shadowfever to Maeve Binchy for heavens sake. That was not a smooth transition.

Go softly my sweet friend. You will always be a part of who I am.

I'm reading Eloisa James now. See trashy book thread. Truly, this Desperate Duchesses series...

...

...

Yes I said Desperate Duchesses.

Anyway, it's six books, it's about grown-ups, it's awesome. Also since it's historical it's not fighting Barrons for headspace. Don't read any of her other stuff first. Her earlier series are practice runs for that one. She does have a stand alone that's a Beauty and the Beast thing except Dr. Gregory House MD is the Beast. Oh and it's Regency. "Regency," since there's sex. She's got Hugh Laurie's speech patterns down pat, it was very funny.

And I agree that as far as compelling relationships go it's UK/SQ all the way. He is large. He contains multitudes.

I do find Christian attractive now that he's turning into an UP. The Keltar druids bore the pants right onto me. He's much better this way, for all that he's going to be wasted on Dani. Ryodan I don't so much care about.

I do look forward to the inevitable Unfrozen Caveman Cruce. Tell me no sidhe seers are going to wander down to the cave to keep an eye on how the frozen naked guy is doing. It'll take me a palate cleansing three books or so before I can get over that whole "participated in a gang rape" thing. Yes, dear, it counts even if you weren't there at the beginning and three others went before you. You could've just given her the Elixir of Life and kept it in your pants, yo. I see no evidence that the Elixir of Life is his *semen*. However! I do like the fact that she let him actually be a *bad* guy. And he's much more interesting now.

I can see that meta is so overcome with emotion and her wrongness over her lack of appreciation of ARES that she hasn't been able to bring herself to respond.

It's okay to admit YOU ARE WRONG, META!
