I'm in the car yesterday with my 2.5 year old and from the backseat I hear "Crap there's a lot of traffic on the road, I need a glass of wine" I about died and had to explain through a fit of laughter that we didn't talk that way and wine is for grownups not kids.

WH has a very eclectic mix of music on his iPod, which he listens to in the car. Subsequently, DS4 has very eclectic taste in music. (Think everything from Big Bopper to AC/DC). DS4 is also very curious and wants to know what the name of every song is and is asking about what things in songs mean. I've told WH that sometimes I really think he needs to just make stuff up and here's a good example of why:

The other night WH and I were sitting on the couch. I was knitting and WH was watching Grease on tv. DS4 was running in and out of the room, playing with cars and action figures.

There came a scene where I said that I had never understood why a character did something and WH said, well he's drunk. DS4 pipes up - "What's drunk mean?" WH says - "It's when a grown up has too many grown up drinks."

Silence for a few seconds.

"Daddy?"

"Yes?"

"Is he all jacked up?"

I about died. A little Gretchen Wilson fan.

DS3 has this 'thing' for dinosaurs. Recently he's been walking around acting like them. He has his "claws" (hands) up, and he stalks his prey all thru the yard.

Today at Nana's house, she looked over and saw him stalking around, so she jumped up and started stalking towards him, her claws up and ready. When she "attacked" him, he started howling, "Noooo Nana! We're the same kind! We're the same kind!"

Allow me to preface this with: GS3 is FINALLY fully potty trained! Yaaaahooo!

Hubs and I had him overnight on Friday. Here's the conversation after he had done his business.

GS: Grandmommy, I am done; you need to wipe my butt

Me: Can you wipe your own butt?

GS: I can't reach the toilet paper.

Me: Ok, I'm coming.

GS: You need to wipe my whole hiney too; it fell in the toilet. It's good I didn't flush; I might not be here. Mommy and Daddy would be mad if I was flushed down the toilet when they came to get me!

Well, they WOULD be!

The scene:

I'm upstairs. Crazz and DD are downstairs, but I can hear them talking.

DD: Daddy, where that guy?

Crazz: Which guy, baby?

DD: Where that GUY? The guy - the mama?

*Jrazz puts down her book, intrigued...*

Crazz: The guy MAMA?

DD: Er, yeah. That guy.

*Jrazz leans over the balcony*

Jrazz: The GUY mama?

DD, pointing up at Jrazz: THERE he is!

Awww, that's right! You're going to be a toddler daddy again!

Not yet, now, Jrazz! Don't rush me! Little Miss already has us in a bit of a dither, what with trying to come early and all!

Well, you can't say she didn't warn you!

GS will be 3 in about 6 weeks. We're together in Maine, driving to a site for seeing, also to eat popovers. GS loves popovers.

GS: Now we go West! (He's been giving directions all week, and he's often been correct.)

Adults: Hmm...he's right.

Son, to GS: Have you figured out directions, or were you just randomly correct?

GS: I was just randomly correct.

Very late edit: I suspect he has no knowledge of what 'randomly correct' means - he's just into mimicking grown-ups. I mean, I know he's brilliant and all, but not that brilliant.

He sounds like a smart little cookie!

DIL leaves Maine to go back to work, so we're without Mommy. We're talking about the end of the week, when W, son, GS, and I are going to spend a couple of days with my 94-year old mother, known to GS an 'G-ma'.

Me: Hmmm...you know, G-ma is MY Mommy.

GS: Thinks. Grin slowly takes over his face. 'Nooooo,' he says, as if to say, 'You can't fool ME with anything that silly.'

But I think he's started to notice that Daddy calls G-ma 'Grandma'....

DS3 made $0.55 picking up sticks in Nana's yard today. Boy was he proud of himself. We promptly had to make a trip to the dollar store to buy something. At the check out he pulled out all his nickels and announced to everyone within earshot. "I'm buying today!"

Well that was embarrassing. In the checkout lane at Target, I see DD3 studying the cashier with a puzzled look.....which made me nervous - and for good reason. She pipes up and asks "Is that a boy or girl?".......about our CASHIER!

For the record, it was a man who sounded very very much like a woman. But geez......! Out of the mouth of a three yr old! I was so embarrassed. I then said "his name is Josh. That's a very nice name isn't it?"

She often is the one who says things, compared to her twin brother.

Driving DS4 home from daycare. We're waiting to take a left turn onto our street, and a car coming from the opposite direction turns right onto our street. It's a black sporty looking thing (I have no idea what it was), but when it turned, it had the Batman emblem painted on the doors.

DS LOST IT. "Mommy! Did you see that? Oh my gosh! It's the Batmobile. MOMMMY!!!!!"

I said, "Yes, I see it"

"MOMMY! That is so AWESOME! BATMAN IS HERE!"

First time I laughed all day and it was so worth waiting for.

We had to call my mom immediately to tell her about it.

That's great.

Yesterday DS3 was playing with something. I heard it clatter to the floor.

Exasperated, DS3 yells, "What in tormation!?" (tarnation)

I just LOVE it when they say things all garbled.

A little bit of personal info (not identifying, no worries): DS' name is Grayson. We call him Gray.

This morning I'm helping him pick out clothes for daycare, and I pull out a gray shirt and ask if he wants to wear a shirt that's just like his name.

He looks at me and says "My name is not Gray."

Really? What's your name, then?

"It's Black. And I'm the White Power Ranger. You need to get this right, Mommy."

Oh, okay.

DD is in a mood, and it's close to lunch.

Me: "You want a PB&J, babybear?"

DD: "No mama, I's just cranky right now."

After a sigh and some consideration:

DD: "Ok, mama. I like a Pee-pee and jay now."
