Today marks one year since we moved into this house, due to the shady tactics of a certain "big bank" which foreclosed on our house. Under the suggestions of MANY WONDERFUL people here, we contacted the Attorney General who recommend that we file a claim against the bank. Well, it's taken a year, but we received a letter in the mail stating that as a result of the suit against the bank, we will be receiving some type of settlement At this point, we don't know how much, but it's just nice to be able to PROVE that it wasn't us that were in the wrong here; rather it was the bank, as we have been saying all along Unfortunately, they won't post *THIS* in the paper...people won't know that the real reason we lost our house was b/c of the bank (unless we tell them). In other related news, it appears that the bank is going to be writing off the balance of the house, as we received something at tax time. It's not "best case scenario" for us, but it's a good scenario, at least

That's great news! Is it going to come off your credit report too? Cause that would be even better.

Speaking of which, how's the budgeting, if you don't mind my asking?

Not sure on the going against the credit report, we're def going to look into it.

Budgeting is getting *a little* better. Still working on improvements.

I started a thread about predatory lending. It's really scary! I am an attorney and I see the frustration of people -- GOOD people trying to handle their mortgages in a responsible manner and STILL losing their homes! It's a SHAME and new federal regulations need to be put against these predators!

That's great news.

I'm getting on board with a class action lawsuit against the same kind of mess that you are going through right now.
