I used it a couple of weeks ago, when I was making Baked French Toast. Tonight, I am branching out to using it in place of butter in Mac & Cheese and Corn. Anyone else use it in place of butter?

Sounds yummy for French Toast. I've used it en lieu of olive oil on roasted sweet potatoes and it is divine.

I've used it more as a beauty product. For hair and skin, its amazing and smells delicious.

I've been using it as a beauty product too... ever since the tips thread in OT.

Baked French Toast sounds ur-mayzing. Recipe?

We use it for a lot of cooking. It gives a sweet taste to anything you cook in it. Not unpleasant, but can take a little getting used to.

Do3K and the 3Kids liked the mac & cheese and the corn, so I'm happy

I've used it on my lips, as chapstick, but I felt like it dried them out more than regular chapstick.

As for the recipe:

-Three whole cinnamon bagels, cubed

-Six eggs

-1 c milk

-1/2 c sugar

Put the cubed bagels in a baking dish. Mix eggs, milk, sugar and pour on top of bagels.

-1/4 c coconut oil

-1/4 c sugar

-1/2 c brown sugar

-2 tsp cinnamon

Use a pastry cutter to cut coconut oil into the sugar/brown sugar, until it's "clumpy". Pour over bagels. Bake at 350 for approximately 45min, or until brown and baked through. Dust with confectioner's sugar and eat

I made a hashbrown bake thing too:

Cover the bottom of a glass baking dish with hasbrowns, cover hashbrowns with strips of bacon (I had five strips left and used all five). Bake on 350 until hashbrowns and bacon are mostly cooked (approximately 15 min or so). Add shredded cheese to cover bacon and bake until cheese is melted.

I didn't have to use any condiments or syrup on either one of the dishes b/c they were good without. I also did fresh fruit and OJ with the meal Hope y'all enjoy!

I just found a website with 101 uses for Coconut Oil...this one, by far, is the most interesting to me: As a natural personal lubricant that won’t disturb vaginal flora

I didn't know where this thread would be headed when I saw the title, but my first thought was more along the line of Mama's last post......

But I do love coconut and the dishes sound yummy, so I wasn't totally disappointed.

That's because coconut oil has a high cleansing property that can be stripping to skin, especially sensitive or thin skin like on lips, try using sweet almond oil, or grapeseed oil for lips :)

I haven't been able to get used to the slightly sweet taste it adds to foods (tried it for making popcorn and also for making scrambled eggs.... fail), so rather than cooking with it, I use it to make soap. Makes really nice soap.

I don't like cooking with it, most of my uses are topical. I find it helps scrapes adn scratches heal, and I use it on my navel ring to keep infection away.

I use it in a few things, like some non-granola granola bars that I make for my recently diagnosed celiac daughter. I use it when roasting some veggies, too. Looking for more uses!

Omg, I also once tried it for cooking eggs. What a puke fest. I couldn't eat it for years after that.

Now I can again, but we usually use it in stir fry and roast veg and other places where coconut might not be out of place.

If you buy it "aroma free", you can use it in place of any oil and you'll never know the difference.
