DD talked me into buying a Powerball ticket today. I told her it was strictly for entertainment purposes, as we have no chance of winning, but the $2.00 is buying us a day of big dreams.
So, according to DD, here's our plan IF we win:
1. I quit my job.
2. I hire a private instructor for her so she doesn't have to return to school.
3. We build a Craftsman style home outside of town with a horse barn, indoor and outdoor arenas, and a bunkhouse for our "staff."
4. Travel the world. First stop - Scotland to visit our ancestral stomping grounds.
5. Order pizza for a celebration dinner.
Don't know why that last one slays me so much. I guess I've been a little Scroogey when it comes to pizza ordering lately.

Ooh, can I play? We played today too, except we plan on winning
1- Split the winnings 3 ways---LD's sister and her family and my brother and his family, and us.
2- With our share we plan to buy lots and lots of property for all the rescued greyhounds (and other breeds
) to have a place to live safely and happily until they all find forever homes.
3- Travel, not sure where.
4- After our kids figure out where they're going to settle, buy homes for them and a home for us near both of them.
5- Huge SI g2g in Negril, Jamaica.
6- I'll go with the pizza celebration too. I like your DD's thinking
.
DS, you are forever in my heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. I will always try to live by the example you have set. I love you and miss you every day and am sorry you had to go so soon, it just doesn't seem fair.

I'm going to build a HUGE garage with a small house attached to it, a big pool and a nice view. I'll have a bunch of toys and a motorhome so my dogs and I can drive around the continent, exploring to our hearts' content.

I told FWSO I'd buy him a garage with a lift and room for every tool he already owns and those he doesn't.
I real professional garage... just for him to tinker around in.
I told DS we'd be moving to a different house and he begged me to stay in his same school zone... so I told him I wouldn't be working so I'd take him to and from school everyday.
I don't know what else... I guess I'd travel. I'd love a motorhome with ALL the comforts and a really nice camera to take pictures with.
ETA: except I didn't even buy a ticket.

Items 1-5 were DD's ideas, although I can't find fault with much there other than having a bunkhouse and "staff." Although... it would be nice to have a personal trainer, nutritionist, chef, minion, and housekeeper. Hmm...
I have a large number of siblings, and would love to give some money to each of them. Set up college trusts for the nieces and nephews. Pay off my mom and dad's bills, etc.
And there are a couple of charitable causes that would see big payoffs - like Parkinson's research and the Tourette's community. And of course, SI.
Huge SI g2g in Negril, Jamaica.
AN - that's pure genius. I'm adding that one to my list.

I'll play:
1. I want to pay off all my bills. It seems illogical but it would be the first time I'd be debt free.
2. I would pay off my brother's home. I would set up accounts for my mother and my brother and they could live off the interest of the money and still have the bulk of the money if they need it.
3. I would give my landlady rent for the year. I would grab my passport with the clothes on my back and just leave. I plan to travel to as many places I want for the next few months. When I come back I'll pack up the stuff for the house and find a new place to live but nothing crazy or extravagant.
4. I would basically buy out my favorite store for clothes and I buy out my favorite lingerie place for bras and underwear.

Okay, I'll play too. H kinda splurged and bought ten chances.
One thing we'd do is buy all the property surrounding the house - about 20 acres - and fence it in. On that 20 acres we'd build a bigger house (keep the one as a guest house of sorts, I guess). Get a bigger, inground, pool. "Fix" the pond so it doesn't drain so quickly. Get a new(er) van and a motorcycle. (H said he'd make the Dogde dealership and the Honda dealership very happy). Travel wherever we wanted. Set up trust funds for the grandkids, help his parents with their house and bills. My family, not sure about. (Long story). And of course a large donation to SI. Other than that, who knows?
We haven't a snowball's chance but it's fun to dream.

I bought my ticket and have been enjoying daydreaming about winning all day long.
Here is what I would do:
1. Buy tesla cars for every member of my family (plus insurance).
2. Pay off my house and splurge on all the projects that need to be completed.
3. Take care of my folks and siblings.
4. Travel.

Jrazz,
As you know, from the discussion the two of you had in the store in Texas while I was in the bathroom, you and LD have similar practical views on finances.
During out winning the powerball conversation, he has gotten as far as, "What the fuck does a person do with $600,000,000? Where do they put that much money?"
At least you have gotten as far as assembling the dream team.

I would buy all the legos in the world and hire engineers to build a ladder to the moon from them. Overcoming the technical challenge would lead to all sorts of amazing breakthroughs, like a giant, planet-wide rail that hovers in orbit along which the lego-moon ladder could roll in order to maintain lunar connectivity with the earth.
Either that or give half of it to charities of choice, keep 10% of it for personal funds and use the rest to buy out the Fallout IP from Bethesda.

1. Buy a condo downtown. A penthouse in a building with a pool. Nothing too crazy, just one bedroom and a den.
2. Quit my job. Just through this fall, I'm okay with the new career options that will open up after school; I just really hate the constant stress of where I am right now.
3. Buy my parents a cottage on a lake somewhere. With heated floors.
4. 529 accounts for the three children I predict my brother and his fiancé will have.
5. Buy my BFF a new car.
6. Travel.
7. Buy a few Kate Spade bags and a bunch of Cole Haan shoes
