I started doing the Couch 2 5K about 6-7 weeks ago. I'm 46, weigh about 210# and have never really run in my life. Last year I had gotten into running on a treadmill, but had never really managed to run in the real world.

I've been stuck on week 5 for going on 3 weeks now. The day I'm on, I'm supposed to run for 20 minutes. I've decided to just go as far as I can and try to push a little further each time. Tonight, I ran a freaking mile. In 12 minutes. I know it's not a marathon, and I'm not in any danger of breaking the sound barrier, but damn, I'm proud.

You are my inspiration...

I have the c25k and I just got clearance to run the end of last week. I had DD4's graduation and still have company this week. I'm looking to start it next week.

Thanks for posting this... I needed it.

Thanks, y'all. Kajem, what I would recommend more than anything else is to give yourself permission to go at your own pace. The program is designed to take 8 weeks and I'm sure that works great for 20-somethings who are 20lbs overweight. I plan to run a 5k in September. It's a Color Me Rad event in our city and JM and our boys are planning to run it with me.

I have not really lost any weight yet but can see and feel a difference in my shape and how clothes are fitting. So hopefully the weight will start coming off soon. I just want to get healthy.

Yay HFFSC! That is great. Every marathon starts with the first mile. Keep it up and you will be ready for that 5K.

Color me Rad will be a great first 5k. It's purely a fun run. My first 5k was Color Run and it was a blast. I finished before anyone expected me to finish. MrH and the kids were still at breakfast when I crossed the finish line.

Something about running with others spurred me on.

Get ready for colors in places you'd never expect though.

WTG! I started it recently as well. I just ran Week 5, day2 today and I was really proud! It was the two 8 min. runs. I made it and felt great.

Tomorrow is that big 20 min run. I am terrified! Congrats! I am not a runner either and I know how big an accomplishment that is, I understand the fear. You should feel so proud!

I am also running a Color Run as my first. I looked at the route and I am terrified, but I am trying to focus on one minute at a time.

Keep us posted!
