Would love some ideas on what to do at G2G.
I know lunch or dinner, but events????
Can some of you folks hit me up and let me know what all you did at your G2Gs in the past?
Thanks!

For the smaller DC ones I've been to, we have just done a meal. A few times, a member has hosted a potluck at her home, which was amazing, because we sat and talked for like six hours.
When I was in Chicago two weeks ago, several people came out to meet me and we went to lunch, then Navy Pier, then dinner and drinks.
When I was in TX last week we just did dinner.
I think more gets planned the further people are traveling to get there (especially if they are getting hotel rooms for overnight). It's all about the conversation and connecting with others for me, personally.
ETA: one-on-one I've done drinks with a number of people, and gone outlet shopping with one of my best friends from SI the second time we met

Recently when a member came to my area we just set up a lunch with other SI folks who live in general area or wanted to travel.
It was just 4 SI members and a couple of their guests and we had a very nice long lunch.
Some people plan much bigger events and have an agenda.
It really depends on where you are, how many SI folks are in your area and how much work you wanna do.

The all-weekend long ones we've had in Texas are typically centered around a specific event (Oktoberfest, for instance), usually on the Saturday because that's when most people can attend.
There will be a casual dinner on Friday night, for whoever is already there (we tend to get a lot of people from out of state for some reason
). Saturday during the day is the activity and depending on how many people are attending, it's done in small groups. People make their own arrangements to meet up with others for lunch. Some people wander around the event/activity together all day.
Saturday evening/night is dinner somewhere that will hold the crowd.
And depending on how late we are out on Saturday night, and when people are flying out or leaving to get home, we've been known to enjoy brunch together on Sunday morning, too.
For the much smaller not-in-Texas G2Gthat TrustedHer hosted, we went to a piano bar on Friday night, to hear TH's son play. Saturday during the day people were left to their own devices, and most did touristy things. Then Saturday night we had dinner at TH's. It was just as much fun as the big G2Gs, just much more low-key.
I think the most important element of any G2G is to give people time and a place to talk and get to know each other.

We're going to lock this one. Please stick to one thread for this to avoid confusion and multiple threads going at one time.
Thanks!
