My ds (27) has gotten into this hobby. His birthday is coming up so I thought I would get him a launcher.
Anyone know about these things?

We have one - it's a bench type that you sit on and load (it can throw doubles). You can get some nice ones for around $130 from Cabela's. They heavier they are, the more stable they are. Look for ones that you can adjust the throwing angle.
Here is the one we have - http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Shooting-Accessories/Clay-Shooting|/pc/104792580/c/104769180/sc/104269680/Do-All-Full-Cock-Traps/706797.uts
Looks like it's a little over $214 now. Ours is about 10 years old.

You want an automatic one, so you don't have to stand there and fling them?
They make the hand held ones that you can have one person fling, and the other shoot. These are really cheap and at any place from walmart to Cabelas, but if you want an auto one they run about 200-250 for a decent one. We looked at purchasing one a few years ago, but never got one. The boys practice for Duck Season at the range, or by hunting squirrels from our back deck.
You might be a redneck if.....

I know they *just throw them up* at this point - but I don't know if they have one of those flinger things or not. I did see them.
I saw Dicks & Gander Mt have some - I will compare to what Tred suggested and see if I can get something decent without spending too, too much. He is soooo hard to buy for, and I came up with this idea all on my own so he will be SURPRISED for once
