Is this normal? I think I had 1 A related nightmare in the las 5 months, but in the last week I've had several and they left me waking up either scared or sobbing. Why now? Is this normal in the process?

I've had several in the last two weeks, and I'm 6 months out. I didn't have any before now. Oh, and he sleeps like a baby! I hope they go away for both of us soon!!!!

I'm a year out and have them. Can't tell you when they started. I think mostly because for the first few months I didn't sleep enough to have dreams at all.
Just call me Heart. :)

It was for me. I think the nightmares started a little later, at about 8 months out. Probably because I was still in shock. I still have them frequently, one of the reasons I'm still in therapy.

It was normal for me.
I think I was in so much of a fight/flight mode in the first few months that when I did finally sleep I didn't remember my dreams, and I am betting they were of happy things to give my brain a break.
I started having the nightmares at about 4-6 months, they were really bad for a 2 week period, waking up my H nightly sobbing in my sleep. I talked to my Dr, and switched up my bedtime routine, and took an ativan at bedtime, this allowed me to fall asleep easily, and calmed my mind. I never remembered my dreams when I took it, but I woke up feeling totally refreshed. I was UNWILLING to take Zolpidem, or Lunesta, as I had seen the crazy stuff it made people do while working in the hospital.

I'm plagued by nightmares and have discussed them at length with my dr and therapist.
I don't know your circumstances, but in my case, they were at their worst when I felt the most physically and emotionally vulnerable. It's the way my brain processes deep fears it can't control. My dr. said they would improve as I feel more safe and he was right.
They didn't start right away after my first dday. They started after I kept catching his TT, probably about 6 months in and lasted on and off for a couple of years.
I started having them right away after this dday in April. Although still happening, they are becoming less frequent (I moved out in August).
