Does anyone use this site? Is it a good "safe" site? I received a catalog in the mail and I liked some of the products so I was thinking about signing up. Can I download a few pics to create a card and then permanently delete it? Any personal experiences anyone would like to share?

I showed it to my husband and he went off on a tangent about how google keeps your emails even if you delete them from your account and he doesn't know if shutterfly is the same way.

I know I can contact their customer service, but I thought I would start here first

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have used them a lot. I've made collages, travel books, cards...they do store my photos as a convenience to me should I need them again.

Watch for the sales. I never buy unless there is a percentage off.

I have use them for years as well as some of their competitors. I have never had any issues.

Ditto what SK said....they always run specials/promos/coupons so don't pay full price. I know one of them was running 60% for Cyber Monday so I am sure you will be able to find a code.

As for security, I am not quite sure. I know you can use their site to store your photos but I don't know what happens if you close/delete your account. Guess I never really had much concern about the security of my vanilla-type pics. Maybe if I was taking racy stuff -

If you are looking for complete security and privacy, I don't think you will find it anywhere on the Internet.

I use Google and I also use Shutterfly. In fact I just ordered three photo coffee mugs from them as Christmas presents.

I love Shutterfly. Of course, one of my BFF's has worked there for over 10 years, so I'm a tad biased LOL.

No, no racy pictures here, Evenkeel

I store all my pictures on a portable hard drive. I have a photobucket account for pics I want to post to a message board, but those are random pictures, not pictures of my children.

I'm just wondering if I download a couple of pics of my children to make Christmas cards and then delete them will Shutterfly still have them stored somewhere. I don't need the storage, I wast just thinking about making cards. I also noticed they have a case for a Galaxy S4. That might be cool, too. But I also have to convince the husband to give me the money. So it probably wouldn't happen anyway, but I thought I would ask.

Shutterfly's great, in my opinion & experience. Quality-wise, their product is far superior to Snapfish (prints, anyway). I've gotten wonderful cards, prints, and books through Shutterfly and am now a devotee. Haven't had any problems over about 4 years now (maybe longer? ...the older I get the more a lot of time feels like a little bit of time, IYKWIM!). The books and cards are really top quality, and I do consider myself a bit of a snob when it comes to quality.

I don't know if the pics remain in perpetuity or not; realistically, in this internet age I think everything's indelibly inked somewhere if the right eyes are looking. However, I've both taken some outstanding photos and have some pretty darn photogenic family members, and thus far they haven't turned up in the public photostream....(knocking on wood!)

You can use any professional print lab to get stuff like that. Bayphoto, mpix. I use fullcolor here in Dallas. You upload your photos then crop, adjust, and you can have a picture on just about anything.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I appreciate it very much. I'll look around at print labs, too.
