Now y'all have me curious to try morels. I take it they have to be purchased at specialty stores, right?

I've enjoyed scrolling thru this thread at different times and seeing all the nice pics...some which magically disappear!

t/j I'll admit as I was scrolling thru and saw the pic of the morels, and without reading the words, the first thing that popped into my head was "wow, are those shriveled up peanuts?" it wasn't until I read the comments that I realized they were in fact mushrooms

BA10, you might be able to find them fresh at Whole Foods, if not, you may have to settle for the dried.

Here is a soil temperature map. Those of you living In the areas in light green and dark green need to be searching for morels right now:

Yep, TRD, they do sort of look like shriveled up peanuts! I'd never thought of that.

Thank you PPGA, I'll look for them next time I'm at WF.

My parents work in the produce industry and handle many rare produce including mushrooms. Maybe they can help. I love mushrooms and you've sparked my curiosity.

Oh and LMBO @shriveled nuts

Okay, PPGA, May is supposed to be the best time for morels here, but speaking of ground temperature, we just has a couple (record breaking!) 85F degree days here (normal temp is 60F… did this ruin morel season for us? Because if so:

It's hard to tell but there might just be a hint of a smile on JPapa in that picture. That would be an SI first wouldn't it?

Tired Girl, that is a nice picture of the two of you but you are blocking the view of the bike.

For the record: I LET Vrazz win that round.

It's hard to tell but there might just be a hint of a smile on JPapa in that picture.

Not even close, there were serious negotiations going on and I made the youngster come up with 17 good reasons why she should get my dessert.
