I survived!! It's fantastic. It was painless (some discomfort when cutting the cornea) and quick! One staff member held my hand while I held a Minnie Mouse stuffed animal. They were extremely encouraging and constantly telling me what would happen. When I sat up, I could already read the clock on the wall and when I went to the exam room after, I could actually see the largest E on the projection! Without glasses, I couldn't even see that.
It's a little hazy still and lights have a major halo around them but it's only getting clearer!!! I couldn't be happier although there was some redness in my eyes (aka I look like I've been infected by a zombie outbreak, which I'm totally okay with) but thank y'all for your comforting words because I was definitely nervous before!!

Congrats. Keep using your drops and enjoy. I remember going home from the surgery and peeking through my Frandma cataract surgery sunglasses and being able to read the sign from way off and thinking this is a miracle.
It is an amazing thing that takes just a few seconds and instantly fixes it.
Congrats again.

That's awesome! I'm so glad your procedure went well and you were able to reap the benefits so soon!!!
Is lasik covered under regular health insurance? Or is it an out of pocket vision expense?
My fiance is thinking of having it done, and I have no idea about the financial particulars of it.

It depends on your insurance but I doubted mine covered it as much as a Groupon-type deal I found. I researched the procedure and their doctors before buying it. I spent $2400 on the intraLasik procedure with a year of follow up visits included. I paid an additional $598 to address my night vision for the customVue customization. All in all, I paid $3000 for $6598 worth of services.
My bf's youngest bro had LASIK covered under their insurance and paid only half but that was for a firefighter discount. I don't think even with insurance, you'd get as great a deal as he got unless you do a deal like I did which cannot be combined with insurance.
With what I spent, I'd meet that in 2 years between contacts, eye exams, and eye drops. I participated in eye studies with contacts where they paid me to wear contacts which helped financially but it's been more than a year since I've worn contacts that I wasn't aware of in my eyes. This is so... Freeing!

Thank you for the info!
We'll have to figure out what our insurance covers and if we can budget for what it doesn't.

I've had sever astigmatism my whole life and my Optomitrist said I'm probably not a good candidate for it only because it would give me farsightedness. But I wear bifocals to help me with nearsightedness. She said I would still need to wear glasses to read / computerwork. Anyone else been told this when they were looked at? I'm still thinking of going for a consultation. I'm so tired of glasses and I can only handle contacts for about four or five hours. I wear them mostly for hockey and that's it. I just don't want to do it only to have to wear glasses still.
