Yeah, with my son we tell him to "eat like a gentleman". It's part of a bigger package that includes napkins on laps, etc.
Eh. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm not a mouth stuffer per se, but I sometimes eat too quickly, especially if it's something that doesn't require cutting, like pasta or pizza.

That situation right there is proof that God intends for us to eat our bacon crunchy. It is a health hazard if not.

Oh yes, a permanent crunchy bacon decree was passed last night.
I just don't get why it takes near-death experiences for people to realize how rightly perfect my ways are.

Maybe I'm unique here, but I am a bacon non-disciminator. I will eat it crunchy, I will eat it chewy, I will it it in bits, bowls, or weaves (Yes, they exist. My brother made a bacon weave. And yes, it DOES looks like a tiny blanket.)

Well, when you choke (and are rescued of course) on a floppy bacon weave, don't come crying to me.

So glad you went into rescue mode and succeeded! It's only in the aftermath that you realize what could have resulted and fall apart! Lol
When my youngest (a DS) was about that age, at a small neighborhood market co-owned by an older couple who were grandparents, the grandmother gave all 3 kids hard candies. Luckily, I made them stay next to me if they chose to open theirs. As she rang up my purchases , DS started to choke on his. She totally panicked, while I, like HFSSC and others, calmly flipped him over and whacked his back, dislodging the candy which flew across the floor. He was startled, but ok and just wanted replacement candy because his sibs had some.
She was so shaken and felt to blame, she offered him anything he wanted and tried to give me things. Heck, I think I could have been the new store owner!!
I have no idea how her own 7 children and the grandchildren who ran around the store ever survived!
Another crispy bacon eater here. Can't stomach the feel of it if not "done". Now I have a better argument in favor of it!

WTG Jrazz....
WTF is it with soggy chewy bacon??? How can anyone eat it that way... Bacon is required to be crisp and crunchy... Of course, me, brilliant as I am, inhales at the wrong time and chokes/coughs on the dry bacon dust... but whatever!!!
Glad you and baby Razz are ok.

Holy Shit, lady! Job well done! Yet another example of why taking CPR/1st Aid classes is a damned good idea.
Shamefully for me, I've actually had to give MYSELF the Heimlich. First time, I was eating with a friend, started to choke, idiot me, walked to the bathroom steps away because I was embarrassed, got in there, training raised it's head and I thought, this is how people die in restaurants. Hurled myself, diaphragm first, into the corner of a sink, dislodging the food as my friend walked in behind me, thinking that I looked strange. STUPID! 2nd time was about 15 years later eating a dinner in my hotel room alone, food stuck, almost broke a rib on the side of the sink. Oy!
The one time I did do it on someone else, it was a little kid at Disneyland. We were eating in a big food court area, I could see him starting to choke, and his mother was telling him to be quiet, and don't disturb people. I was about 19? I went over two tables, grabbed him, did the maneuver, mom hit me and started screaming for Security WHILE she was hitting me, the hot dog popped out of the kids mouth, and he started crying. I was so embarrassed that I left at high speed.
And for those of you who don't know how, here's a short video on the Hind Lick Maneuver.

That is the scariest moment, when you realize someone is legit choking. My son did that same thing on an onion ring when he was about 9.
I remember that funny look on his face. Just as I was about to fly out of my seat over to him and administer the HM, he reached way back into his throat and pulled he offending string of onion out.
Very scary. I'm so glad that you knew how do this and that vrazz is ok.

vrazz may hassle you about this, but i expect she'll eventually know you saved her life, and once she's through adolescence, she'll be very happy you did.
I hope this is the last time your cpr skills are called on.

I'm in motion, sisoon.
Processed a bit - had a lot going on this week. I guess I'm avoiding saying I'm trying not to think about it too much. I told my mom, which is big because she is NOT someone I usually go to for emotional support.
Hmm, I broke down sobbing watching Frozen with V this morning... during "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?" I think I got my tears out, in a misplaced manner but now they're out.
Thanks for asking.

Glad things are calming down...
...I ate 5 pieces of floppy-as-hell bacon this morning and spelled out a letter of Jrazz's name after each one.
J-*munch*-R-*munch*....and so on and so forth.
It was the only exciting part of my morning, sadly enough.

That movie is like that. Let It Go used to get me every time, before "every time" became every 45 seconds in the radio.

There was a five year old singing "Let it Go" behind me in the grocery check out line this morning. It was a really long line, too.
