A small tangent.

After Dday I would work at finding things of beauty around me and recognizing them. Everyday I would look for at least ONE thing and appreciate it.

In the pain of a recent Dday this was difficult at first. It got easier with time. Over they years since my ability to find beauty has fluctuated according to whatever I was dealing with at the time.

Sometimes life is just a bitch. but even on the darkest of days there are things of beauty out there. recognizing them allowed me to come out of my internal pain and find a external thing of joy.

Things like flowers growing in the parking lot at work.

Today.

1. a sun filled clear blue sky

2. the mountains in the distance

3. the smell of my morning cup of tea

4. a young cat we are fostering - he is a being of pure joy

5. the smell of the pine forest around my house and the feel of the cool air as I sit out on my deck.

Forgive and forget = Relive and regret.

Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man.

I feel guilty that I'm struggling to choose 5 of the things I'm most grateful for. Even with the infidelity in my life, I am very blessed.

I have an amazing family

Ditto my circle of friends

I have a secure job

My children are all healthy

I like myself.

On a side note: My family doesn't practice any kind of religion really so instead of saying grace, we each go around the table at dinner and say something we are grateful for. It is a wonderful gift to give to your kids and a great conversation starter.

Mindfulness - IMO - is the single best method of recovery from any tragedy. Cultivate, grow and spread it!

(((neverdidthink)))

No guilt in here! This isn't about admonishing ourselves to be grateful, it's about trying to remember how to feel good about things. You can pick a color, or a smell, or anything. I LOVE the way oranges smell, btw. Boom - good thing.

This is just an exercise. We don't have to concern ourselves with priorities or even the number of things. It's just about practicing feeling joy.

1. QS and his unwavering love and support.

2. My children. They try my patience, make me question my sanity, and fill my heart with joy. All at the same time. Every day.

3. My friends. It's a new concept. I can be the real me. And they love and accept it.

4. Coffee. It's my crack.

5. SI. I would be lost without it and the thousands of members that makes up this wonderful community.
