BUMP.
Never tell anyone about the VAR. Don’t confront with information that you could have not found out any other way. Use stuff where they think that you could have had a PI or that friends saw them. Think of your VAR as a spy and you don't want to blow their cover.
Never tell all that you know. They know what they did. All that spilling your guts does if let them know what you know so that can minimize and make up a story that fits. For example if you found two hotel receipts only tell them about one. If you have enough then remove the VAR before you confront

I knew something was wrong in ws behavior toward me. I bought a var and recorded ws and my life was forever changed. not one but 2 op, with one being a friend and church member. I'm devastated and don't know what to do. Ws refused to talk about it and all I know is what I heard via VAR.

Proceed with caution. It hurts hearing things. I had a feeling my ww was still talking to a guy I told her not to. I put the VAR in the car and sure enough, she called him and her tone was sickening. I didn't even recognize who she was. She never talked like that to me. For some one who was so broken up about cheating on me, she sure was perfectly happy and content talking to this guy.

My opinion? Sony is your best bet. The SONY ICD PX333 Digital Voice Recorder is the one I own and it is $50 at most on Amazon.

I bought two of the Olympus ones, used, for $3 each, from Amazon. Free shipping too
