Man that was rough. After the first injection to make sedate him, he curled up on top of my feet.

I put our husky down last year. The single most gentle animal that ever existed - though she did get in a fight (and lose)to a porcupine once.

On top of all this - sorry.

So sorry to hear this, JM.

After everything you have had to deal with during your WW's affair, to now have to deal with the loss of your faithful canine friend just seems to be more than many of us could bear.

You are a strong man, my friend. I'm proud to know such a man.

I'm so sorry JM. It's been almost 2 years since I lost my beloved golden. I still cry when I think of him. I was fortunate to have an amazing experience with him as he left. We were looking into each other's eyes, nose to nose, and when he breathed out his last breath, I breathed it in. It sounds silly but it was so meaningful to me. He is a part of me and will always be with me.

Sending you peace and strength.

If Happy Ever After did exist, I would still be holding you like this.

JM,

One of the best statements that was ever burned into my mind, was by my WW(at that time, just a wife) when we were putting down one of our pets.

As we petted him during the sedation, she told him that this is the one gift that we can offer him, that we are not legally allowed to do to our human counterparts. We are able to end his suffering.

My brother always told me that he wanted nothing more than his dying pet who is being put down to be able to look in his/her owner's eyes as they go to sleep for that last time. That they should feel as safe as possible...given the circumstances.

You did that. Thank you.

"Know what? She deserves every bit of it. I feel no sorrow for her whatsoever.

She richly deserves everything she gets for her monumentally stupid decisions."

As sorry as I feel for you - because you don't deserve this - and I understand - this is one reason I don't post much on this website because of this attitude. As miserable as I am, I hope I never take joy in the pain of someone else - even one who has wronged me and broken my heart. I have been stripped of so much, but I never want to lose my compassion and my humanness. That would just make me bitter - and true joy would evade me if I carried such hate in my heart.

Have you even read the thread, tiedhands? This woman blew up a 27 year relationship, treated her husband like crap through most of it, and threw away her marriage, her relationship with her children, family and friends all for a few month fling with a BBC ghetto rat wannabe rap star.

This is a woman who abandoned her children on evenings and weekends to go pot smoking to rap clubs with her BBC.

This is a woman who giddily bragged to her son about her pot smoking club adventures--a son who at the time was in a rehab facility for substance abuse.

This is a woman who blamed her husband for everything that happened in their home (who, for example, while out clubbing with her BBC for a weekend, comes home and complains to her husband that he hadn't washed the dishes.

This is a woman whose sense of entitlement made her feel that none of her family relationships and responsibilities mattered as much as her getting f****ed several times a week by her BBC, whom she now discovers is broke all the time because of two alimony and five child support payments to previous wives.

And you feel sorry for her?

JM, please accept my condolences on the loss of your dog. I'm so sorry. It's such a rough thing to have to do ... and conversely one of the greatest gifts we can give them. To stop their suffering after a life filled with love. (((hugs)))

Imagine a ship trying to set sail while towing an anchor. Cutting free is not a gift to the anchor. You must release that burden, not because the anchor is worthy, but because the ship is.

JM, sorry for the loss of your beloved pet. That's difficult on top of everything else you're going through. You have peservered and stayed the course. Your kids will one day appreciate how you've handled yourself. Not sure if you're tracking mblink, but there are similarities in your stories for sure. Hang in there, you're doing great.

montana, not sure what a BBC is (not listed in the abbreviations in Healing Library), but please stop with the micro aggressions (ghetto rat), there's no room for racial innuendo here, it's already difficult enough for those of us hurting.
