Please SI....I may need a new smartphone soon, and have no idea how to begin.
My current phone is an iPhone 6 (about 5 years old?) and it is not doing well. I want to be prepared to act fast if need be. Right now I am with Att prepaid option and Pay about $40 a month and never run out of data.
I use my phone at work for emails, and internet. I text and rarely call anyone.
I don't stream movies or music.
Please teach me about the current state of affairs on "plans" "contracts" and anything else I need to know.
Thanks!!

I don't do apple so I can't help there...but we have Verizon, $45 a line, unlimited everything. We do stream. My husband needed a new phone, he didnt want bells and whistles, it has them but doesn't use some features, it was about $144, divided by 24 months.
His camera is very good, he uses that. It's slim and sleek.
We use Google drive, no iCloud services. But you can use that on Android, I think.
Phones are ridiculously high priced. $144 is my limit.

I also have an iPhone 6(s). I've had struggles with the battery and have had it replaced twice so far. For $30/battery, it seems cheaper than a new phone. It is starting to act jenky, though, and I'm not sure what the deal is. I've had it about 4 years, I think. I did read recently that iPhone 6 is still going to be supported by Apple and that IOS updates will still work on IPhone 6's. I really like my 6 for size and how it works. (besides the jenky factor previously mentioned)- I don't want a bigger phone than I've got, and I don't want to spend the money they are asking for the newest model.
They way they are pricing these days is that you pay per month for the phone until it's paid off- for example, if you buy a new $900 phone, they break that up into smaller pieces and add it to your phone bill. Well, that's the way they did it when I bought this phone a few years ago. When I paid it off, the bill went down.
And I'm on Verizon. (Can you hear me now?)
Maybe check to see if replacing your battery would solve your problems. Are you near an Apple store?

Thank you!
I made some changes to the phone and increased the processing speed. That will hold me for awhile.
Good to know about the battery, because I cannot afford to pay the price of a new iPhone. I do not think I have had battery issues yet, but I'm going to look into that.
Me and my trusty iPhone 6 will carry on!

I too am a samsung girl.
I just recently got the newest one, a gift from my H. Because the prior 2 phones were older models, and I make them last years and years.
I have found that hte Samsungs tend not to have the issues that Iphones do, but it's all a personal preference.
If you are not wanting the latest and greatest, check out CL for the older models. Usually you can buy them outright for much lower cost. Just got both kids the second to newest models, and paid about $250.00 each. Then you just have to pay for the data plan.
