Blue Apron, Home chef, etc. It's a big problem in this house, what to cook for dinner that's heart healthy for him and doesn't set my auto immune disease off. I'm not worried about me, I can be satisfied with a salad or peanut butter nread and fruit.

But has anyone done my homework for me and researched healthy options? I think he's getting tired of grilled salmon.

Neither of us like to cook.

I purchase pre-made meals from a local company. I love it. They make several different meals, snack and soup each week. I pop them in the microwave and have an instant fresh healthy meal ready in 2 minutes. Look for a local meal prep service.

Have you looked into SunBasket? My best friend gets them delivered. You can get a variety of preparedness (you chop/they chop/already prepared). They are organic and healthy and she thinks they are tasty. I watched her make one on a zoom call one night, and it seemed easy enough (and looked good!).

Don’t know where you are geographically but our Kroger’s have some good meal prep kits in the deli section. (So does Sprouts).

I'm the BS. WH had an EA/PA with a cOW. DDay was 4/17. Working on R. Married 15 years and together 20 at DDay.
DDay #2 and #3 6/19. Grew a conscience and admitted a full blown physical affair.

I have recently taste tested several meals from Home Bistro and Real Eats. Both involved boiling plastic pouches to reheat the food. That method of reheating received a D in my grading system.

I have settled upon Freshly to stick with. You can receive as little as 4 meals per week. I’ve tried two so far and they tasted GREAT! Microwaving achieves more even reheating, IMO.

Thanks. There are no local companies near me, but the two suggested look good. Especially Sun Basket, which seems the most heart healthy.

Thanks!

WH and I usually enjoy cooking, but the "what's for dinner" thing really does get old. I'm a penny pincher so I tend to do a big cooking session or two and use the heck out of my freezer. None of this may be very helpful if you really hate to cook (tho I thought Freshly & Sun Basket, etc all still require you to do the cooking - they just basically do the shopping part)

So, ground turkey was on sale. Bought a ton of it. 1/2 was made into taco meat. The other 1/2 I used greek seasoning from Penzy's. Bought a dozen 1-cup mason jars and froze it all. I'll always have lettuce on hand, so 5 min taco or greek salads by chopping some lettuce and microwaving a protein. If I don't have lettuce I've been known to just eat the meat alone or on some other veggie.

In the winter I'll make a ton of soups to freeze- also in 1 or 2 cup mason jars.

I'm not as vigilant about veggies, but peppers freeze super well. You can chop 'em all up in one sitting and then freeze. I'm a huge fan of the bags of riced cauliflower - 5 min in the microwave and veggies are ready (we are low carb, so that's kind of a staple).

Buy a bulk tray of chicken and then freeze in the marinade, so just defrost & cook.

We have a place in my city that you can go and make your own freezer-ready meals. Fish tacos are one of my faves - and I can do it myself, but just haven't done it yet (basically adding marinade & chopped bell peppers to some tilapia in an aluminum tray w/tortillas frozen in a separate zip loc. The tray goes directly into the toaster oven for like 40 min.

I also do a super easy chicken picante (tho high sodium) by cooking in 1/2 salsa & 1/2 dijon mustard. Serve over rice or riced cauliflower. Maybe takes 20 min?

I know families who will make/share in bulk. Each family makes a giant amount of one thing and then they swap (like a christmas cookie exchange).
