Glad you made it through! Hurricanes scare me more then earthquakes and tornadoes. Grew up, in So Cal and 3 teen years in Oklahoma.
Your right 2020 has been a test. Sucks about the fishing.

Wow, tushnurse, glad you got through it okay! It's great you guys knew what to do so your camper made it through too. Some vacation....
I've never been through a tropical storm or hurricane but we recently had a derecho...which is basically an inland hurricane...in Iowa. It hit our city ahead on but thankfully it only lasted a couple of hours, not days.

Thank you one and all for helping me find some humor and good in our experience.
I truly was NOT afraid at all during it. Something in my gut told me all along that we were going to be just fine. It was strange. I was quite calm and actually slept as the eye wall approached us, and when we returned even with the winds steady at least 50mph, and gusting to 70 I chose to take a nap. Of course we were under a live oak, so we kept getting acorned, so it wasn't a restful nap, but it was a nap.
Lillies. My Dtr is was in Des Moines, and My Niece lives more easterly. So they too were effected, and saw all the damage. That same craziness brought us some signficant winds as well, and there are folks around us that still have trees to clean up from it, so even this far south there were some very mild effects.
Thank goodness you were not harmed. It's awful the destruction that it did to the crops though. It couldn't have hit at a worse time in the season.
