Today I am grateful for....

Lots of you have told me to start making a grateful list each day to help. I haven't started one yet, but this morning I instantly thought of one.

I am grateful that I got to wake my daughter up and watch her stretch. She does this cute stretch thing. When she was a baby, BH and I would say she looked like a turtle when she did it. As she got older, her stretching started to look just like her daddy's. I swear those two are twins when it comes to the way they sleep. When they would nap together, I would go in to look at them. They would both be in the same exact position. They stretch the same way when awoken.

Kind of like the WS to WS thread, I thought this could be an ongoing one for anyone.

What are you grateful for today?

LD showing some spirit :) Truly, it made my day!

James (current bible focus)

My husband

Maia

Work that I love and a great team, getting ready for a few busy days (which prevents a more full response - my gratitude list is long)

What a good idea. We should keep posting this through Thanksgiving!

I am thankful that my kids and husband are healthy and safe.

I am thankful for my opportunity to take a long Epsom salt soak last night followed by getting into my coziest PJs and an early night for bed.

I am thankful for an early Thanksgiving luncheon at work today, the food was awesome. Hearing everyone visiting and laughing was equally awesome.

Cool idea for a thread!

Yesterday was my grand-daughterís first birthday. She is our first (and only) grandchild. Our family had an impromptu get together for the occasion. My son and his wife, my parents and sister, the other grandparents, and me and my wife were there. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and there was tons of laughing and good conversation. I really enjoyed the evening.

I am far more ďawareĒ of times like this one and how special there are. I no longer take stuff like this for granted.

Thankful for rain in Southern California. Itís quite possibly the sound I miss most living out here(!)

ETA: Buck reminds me a close second was DSís 12th b-day party last weekend(!) The whole JB family there and able to absorb a lovely day focused on the two little humans weíve made and continue to love madly.

New day, new grateful list people!

1. I got to talk to BH this morning at the house, and he said "bye" when he walked out!
2. I got to see our dogs today, and they jumped all over me giving me kisses.
3. I get to wake our daughter up and see those turtle stretches.
4. Just one more day before Thanksgiving break from school 😁

Ooooh! Love this idea!

My husband had a business trip this week and came home last night. Iím grateful he returned home safely and that we got to spend quality time together last night.

Iím grateful that DS2 got out of bed this morning and got ready for school without a fight and he even made his bed! Hmmm...I think he wants something.

For a second chance.

Okay, today, I am thankful for you guys. There are some of you who remind me of where I have been so I can reinforce my lessons. There are some of you that extend your support to me through PM's, especially when I am having a bad time. There are some of you who are my inspiration for where I am trying to go.

Today I'm grateful for some warmer weather that brought us back above the minuses. Dog poop needs picking and it sucks when it is frozen in place.

Buzzy - looks like you have a heart after all. Kind of like the Grinch....

It's been hard to be grateful today. My daughter has anorexia. Yesterday, after reading all the anger and vitriol for waywards, I sat by her in a hospital room digesting the words of a doctor who just explained the many ways her body is starting to fail. My sweet, beautiful girl who never hurt anyone but herself. Then I read more support for the idea that all people like me are incapable of empathy and that we deserve whatever grief life brings us. That people here wish for it to happen. How we should be beaten to a chorus of cheers. That we don't know what pain is and never will, but they hope we'll somehow get to find out.

I'm sorry. I know I'm distraught and may wish I hadn't posted this. I understand that people here are truly suffering. I am finding it hard today to turn the other cheek and act like theirs is the only suffering that matters, or that my role here is to take whatever is thrown my way. I'm not strong enough right now for that.

I'm grateful that my daughter is still alive.

LifeDestroyer posted 11/21/2019 13:20 PM

BSR

You're suffering isn't any less than someone else's, especially when it comes to a child. I am so sorry that your daughter is suffering from that and that you have to witness it. I know she is very grateful that her mom is by her side.

hikingout posted 11/21/2019 13:23 PM

Oh my BSR - I am so sorry to hear this, I will pray for you daughter. And, now, I am sorry if I put upon you earlier today with my own silliness, I didn't even ask you what was wrong! I am sorry, sometimes we can truly get wrapped up in our own head.

So, what are the next steps for your daughter? How old is she (still at home)?

hikingout posted 11/21/2019 13:23 PM

Dupicate post. My computer must have a thing for this thread.

It's ok. I should have foreseen that this would become a threadjack. I just envisioned a round of commentary on how awful it is that waywards have anything to be grateful for, and it pre-emptively triggered me, which is unfair because to my knowledge, no one had said that.

I'm at my emotional limit and probably shouldn't be posting at all for the moment. But I do appreciate the kind thoughts.

Hutch posted 11/21/2019 13:46 PM

Excellent idea for everyone on SI no matter where they are at in their journey. It's important to remember what we are grateful for so thank you for starting this.

BSR - Prayers and hugs. As a mom I understand the pain. We feel our children's pain no matter the age. I hope for healing and health for your daughter, but also comfort for you as well.

I'm grateful for my kids. They are a bright light in my life no matter what is going on. Thank God for allowing me to be their mom. It's the greatest gift I've ever received.

MrsWalloped posted 11/21/2019 14:28 PM

Oh God, BSR. I am so so sorry.

Just ignore all those voices and be there with your sweet, precious baby girl. Hug her, stroke her hair, and just love her. Thatís what matters, not what anyone else says.

Iíll have your daughter in my prayers.

(((BSR)))

BraveSirRobin posted 11/21/2019 16:30 PM

I'm bumping this just to say that a new thing that would make me grateful is if everyone continues to post positive things that are happening in their lives to save me from the guilt of having Caddyshacked the pool.

Please carry on.
