I'm 45 and in reasonably good shape. I mean, things are obviously a little more squishy now than they were 20 years ago, and there's some dimpling skin that didn't exist back then, which is why I used the word "reasonably".
I'm tall, and I feel like one piece bathing suits look weird on me - like it's being pulled too tight lengthwise, if that makes sense. I don't really like tankinis either because it just feels weird to have the top hanging around my stomach when I'm in the water. But at the same time,I'm starting to wonder...am I too old to be wearing a bikini? I don't want to be "that" mom at the pool, you know?

I am 50 and I wear one for the same reason as you. I just put shorts or swim shirt on top when I am doing a sport which is almost always when I am in the water. Look at Elizabeth Hurley-go for it!

Some years ago, at a beach I saw a woman in her late 50´s wearing a bikini bottom but no top. I’m a bit too old to be fascinated simply by a woman’s breasts but this woman caught my eye because she had a double mastectomy and had the scars to prove it. Frankly it was one of the more beautiful things I have seen.
No – not sexy. That never crossed my mind. I was imagining how brave she was and what a survivor she was not to let something this drastic hold back on her.
So what age bikini?
Personally I would put the end-date at just before being placed in a coffin.

Bigger I love this!!!
I'm 43, 44. Oh geez I'm in my 40's lol
I also have curves. Lots of them and I still wear a two piece. I'm short so one piece suits are usually to long so a two piece fits better. And I can mix and match different ones.
I prefer a top that isn't a couple of eye patches though. I'm actually looking for a top that goes around my neck and completely cover and contain the DD's at the front...nothing like diving into water only to find your top around your waist lol
I'm with Bigger. Wear what you want to wear.

..there is a TV commercial on lately that also caught my attention, I think it's for a woman's skin cream. One of the women was also a double mastectomy survivor.
She was also, I think, incredibly brave and confident to do the ad for the TV audience!
As for bikini or not, don't let the judgement or opinion of 'others' determine your decision. Go with what works best for YOU!
I've suggested to my W to try a bikini, especially in our older years, because we've been going to Jamaica almost every February... and lots of women go topless on the beach.
My W has a great figure and could easily go 2-piece... but doesn't. She prefers the one piece.
I still get to see my beautiful wife in a 'NO- PIECE'.. my personal preference !

Never too old.
My folks live on Ft Myers Beach FL, gods waiting room. When we go and walk the beaches there, or Sannibel or Captiva there are a lot of women in the 70's and 80's wearing bikini's and pulling it off, some are surgically enhanced or repaired but the majority aren't they are just sun loving, beach walking goddesses.
For that they are amazing to me, and admired. My mom quit wearing a bikini when she turned 55, she just wasn't comfortable w/ her middle showing, menopause was tough on her, not a lot of weight gain, but she lost her waistline which was always small.
I haven't worn a bikini since college due to the fact that I am the opposite of you, extremely short waisted, w/ large boobs, so it looks like my boobs are sitting on my hips. LOL. I wear Tankini's because when I put a whole piece swimsuit on there is a bunch of extra material. Wear what you are comfortable in. Be proud of who you are.

Wear what you want, if you do want a one piece you should be able to find one that is labeled for tall. It would be more expensive but I either buy those cause my torso is my longest part longer than my legs and I have a larger chest. Most regular swimsuits don't cover the girls safely for swimming. Or I buy a suit a great sizes larger cause the are longer and then the butt is baggy. I tend to by tanks with inch wide straps.

I was on a vacation a few years ago, thin, fit, body conscious even in my modest one piece. I am big chested although short. Nursed both babies and gravity is clearly working.
There was an older woman at the small resort, in a rather skimpy bikini, not in particularly good shape, lots of sagging, and she rocked that body. She was confident and proud and sexy as hell.
I sure envied her.
Wear what makes you feel good.

Never too old to wear whatever you want. I'm 50 and contemplating a bikini. I would wear one in a heartbeat if I weren't embarrassed by my fat belly. (Yes, I know that's another issue. I'm working on it. Hence, the contemplation.)
I wear tight, shirt spandex booty shorts and tanks when I workout. I go to the grocery store dressed like that. IDGAF what anyone else thinks. They're probably jealous, anyway! Ha!

I would say that you should use your own judgement.
If you think that you look better in a bikini than a one-piece, then that's your answer.

I am 61 and wear a size 4. I have never been comfortable wearing a bikini though I have bought a couple in my life thinking I would someday be thin enough, toned enough, whatever, to feel comfortable in it.
But I recently admitted to myself that I'm too old for a bikini, at least if I am in the presence of people I know besides my husband, or if I wish to have pictures of my events that I might share with others who do know me, then NO to the bikini.
Even so, we were planning a cruise in April this year that obviously got cancelled. Before that happened I ordered myself two 2-piece suits. Some might call them bikinis but they were high waisted bottoms with ruffly (more coverage) tops. I thought they looked okay on me and I was so looking forward to wearing them!
So my answer for myself is that regardless of age, I'm not comfortable in a skimpy bikini. But one thing on my list that makes me want to consider it as that it would draw more attention to my mid-body and hopefully less to my legs (which show with every kind of bathing suit). My legs are my worst feature.
